She was born and raised in a very middle class family where they weren't wealthy, but hardly ever struggled financially. Zinna was taught, by her parents, that the Bright Lady awarded the good and punished the bad. Her parents expected success out of Zinna and always gave her a strong talk when they thought she was slacking. Education was very important to them because they wanted Zinna to be very intelligent and do something with her life other than what her parents did. Her father was a chef and her mother was a seamstress. After pressuring Zinna with her education they realized they were doing the wrong thing and told her instead to chase her dream. She started doing things that were fun instead of studying for school. She began taking singing lessons and was actually a pretty talented singer.
She | Zinna lived six other siblings who treated her very badly sometimes and that was because of her special gift: her telepathy and empathy. Zinna was an outcast at school and hardly any of the parents wanted their children around someone who could read minds. Telepathy was very rare on El-Auria and hardly ever seen, and when it was people considered it a curse rather than a gift. Zinna grew thinking she was cursed. Her siblings would tease her and also blame everything on her. One day, a religious leader had told people that Zinna wasn't cursed and that it was a special skill sent from the Bright Lady. This helped ease the tension in Zinna's life and she was finally able to go outside without getting dirty glares.
When Zinna was around 20-40, she would go outside at night and watch the stars and every now and then see ships pass by and wonder what it would be like to be on one. When she was young, she had heard rumors about a species known as the Borg. She was told they were nothing but enemies and the Bright Lady did not like them. However, Zinna only thought these were mere myths and legends. Even though she had heard many people speaking of the rumors, her parents always told her to ignore them and that they were not real.
She got her first job at an El-Auria Police Department as an Interrogation Specialist with the rank of Detective. She often did crime scene investigation work and used her telepathy to aid in discovering a criminal's truths and lies. Her boss was Commissioner Dedato, and also a very good friend of hers. She worked at this position from 2219 to 2265. She also did some espionage work, but none major. Dedato and Zinna made the perfect team and always brought justice to El-Auria. Although Zinna never really had a problem with reading people's minds for the truth, she felt like a murderer when she used it to hurt people. There was a man named Nealo who tried to attack Dedato and Zinna and she used her telepathy to hurt him ''nearly'' leaving him brain dead.

Not too soon in 2265, when Zinna was 76, her home world was assimilated by the [[Borg]]. Her parents didn't make it because they were crushed by a pile of rubble. Zinna's parents begged for her to help but Zinna was too afraid of Assimilation herself. She told them sorry and headed straight for the rescue ships. Once aboard, she saw Borg drones capture her parents. She considered herself the murder of their lives rather than the Borg because she had a chance to save them, but was too afraid. | Not too soon in 2265, when Zinna was 76, her home world was assimilated by the [[Borg]]. But was so strange was that Zinna didn't tell her other siblings they were supposed to transport to Earth. She was the last one to transport off leaving her brothers and sisters to die! She didn't tell her siblings that they were supposed transport to Earth because they had been angry with Zinna ever since she left their parents to be assimilated by the Borg. They held a grudge against her and she held a grudge against them resulting in their murders.
