Savannah was born in the Pacific Northwest area of Earth to very young, but somewhat accomplished parents. Her mother was in school to become a doctor, and her father was working on a degree in theoretical quantum mechanics. The pregnancy was not planned, but as a medical student, Savannah's mother could not choose anything but to have the child. Her father wasn't quite as accepting, as the two had been living in a small, one room apartment as they finished schooling. Because of the pregnancy, Savannah's father gave up his career and enlisted in the Starfleet Marines to provide for his now wife and the coming baby.

While everything seemed fine at first, Savannah's father grew more and more bitter as time went on. He started to drink real alcohol and often came home yelling at his young wife and toddler. Soon after that, he became abusive, resulting in multiple visits by local security officers and multiple visits to the local medical office. Nothing was ever done, however, as the family lived pretty far out of the way and her father was always able to smooth things over.

It wasn't until she was older that Savannah began to grow into the person that she would become. Deciding that she would no longer cope with the abuse, she stood up to her father at the age of 16 and left. She spent the next two years wandering from place to place just listening and watching people. As soon as she was old enough, she signed up for the Marines, if for no other reason than the fact that she would be employed and be able to survive.

Savannah spent the first few years of her commission in the Marines. After seeing so many people die, she chose to move to a Starfleet role. Given a position in intelligence, she puts her power of observation to work.
