Sakira was born in the Tenth month of the Betazed calender 30 years ago. She was born to two loving parents, a Betazoid mother and a Vulcan father who cares for her as a Vulcan is capable. She spent her formative years on Betazed, spending time on Vulcan when her father return home to report to the Vulcan science academy.

As she grew so did her powers of empathy and telepathy. Her father helped her learn to shut her mind to it when she needed to and her mother helped her open herself to it. She always felt like a yin-yang.

She spent her 18th birthday with her father on earth where she met Patrick Shaunessy, a Cadet at the Academy. He was asked to give her a tour and they quickly became friends. They tried to fight their attraction for each other and soon found it impossible. They quickly fell in love.

She convinced her parents to let her go to college in San Francisco, and within a year she was established there. At age 20, she married Patrick and a month later he received his first posting on a patrol ship. She kept to her studies and missed him terribly.

Their long distance marriage made it through her years at college, but as soon as she needed to make a decision on what to do next, their relationship took a hit. Patrick took a posting on a long distance mission. And the arguments over it convinced Sakira to file for divorce.
