SIM:German Galven - Meeting New People is Most Exciting!
((Starfleet Grounds, San Francisco, Earth))
Galven: How about this... Would you like to take my PADD and then you can be our navigator? The destination marker is located west of here in that direction. What do you say, Lieutenant?
Bailey: It would give me something to do.
The Elaysian extended her hands out to grasp the PADD, but German noticed that the brief moment when they were both holding the device that Sheila was trembling. The Denobulan wasn’t as worried however because there were plenty of reports where she performed her duties gracefully despite under the amount of pain and stress she was under.
Bailey: ::Voice still wavering:: I hate to ask this but my hands are so shaky, would you mind pushing me in my chair?
Galven: I don’t see a problem with that. Will you be okay though?
Bailey: It would make me feel safer if you would. I honestly don’t know why I’m scared. Those three men, the way they looked at me, its creeped me out.
German went around to the back of her wheelchair and grasped the handles tight enough not to lose his grip. It didn’t take much effort pushing Sheila as she was giving out directions for the both of them. Her was starting to quiver more which caused some slurs in her wording which made him push faster.
Looking down at the PADD to see the map since all he wanted to do was distract her from what previously happened, it wasn’t a long trip as he noticed a shuttlecraft in the horizon with three other people walking towards them.
Sal settled a soft smile on his face as he strolled up to greet them, giving time for Prudence and Rustyy to catch up.
Taybrim: A lovely day on the Academy green, isn’t it?
Hael: Seems like, always be good weather. ::he chuckled.::
He nodded, offering a wave towards German and Sheila
Taybrim: Yes, there are our new crewmates. ::He smiled, an easy, casual smile – the sort of genuine expression coming from a person who truly liked other people.:: Good afternoon Commander Galven and Lieutenant Bailey!
Their behaviors were welcomed as German approached his new Captain and crew. He glanced at them noticing the kind smiles as the red headed man introduced them. In the crew manifest he read on the shuttle ride to Earth, the Denobulan had read that Sal was a Betazoid which he could already tell. The occasion wasn’t the first time meeting one and it was pretty doubtful that it would be the last time. He always got along quite nicely with any species that wasn’t pointing a phaser back at him.
Hael: Hiya. ::he waved and offered up a boyish smile.::
Bailey: Hi.
German felt a little embarrassed that all Sheila could come up with was a simple hello. Given the circumstances she was under, it didn’t faze him too much.
Galven: ::smiles and extends his hand:: Pleasure to meet you, Captain. ::turns to the others and nods:: As the captain said, I’m Lieutenant Commander German Galven and this is Lieutenant Junior Grade Sheila Bailey. ::smirks:: In case there was any confusion figuring out who was who.
Blackwell ::She grinned and offered her hand:: A pleasure.
It seemed that the introductions were cut short when Bailey slumped out of her wheelchair which caused German to quickly move around the wheelchair and catch the back of her head into his hands so she wouldn’t have too much of a headache later on.
Galven: ::feels her wrist:: It was a pretty intense moment back there which caused her to have some sort of panic attack. Heartbeat is a bit irregular, but she’ll be fine. Is there anything you need, Lieutenant?
Bailey: ::weakly:: Water…..
Hael: I gotcha - ::he turned back towards the shuttle.::
Galven: Very kind of you, Commander. ::He briefly watched as the man headed for the shuttle, then turned to the captain and lieutenant:: I’m not usually one to judge people based on their appearances alone, but something was definitely going down, sir.
Blackwell ::Rue was quiet as Galven spoke. Her readings showed the woman was indeed under high levels of stress that could account for the faint. She tried to simply be a calming presence while waiting for Hael to return:: What happened?
Taybrim: I’m not sure… I was focused on Lieutenant Bailey so I didn’t see anything…
Galven: The moment passed too quickly for me to figure out what was going on. Have there been any instances the past few days?
Taybrim: Not that I am aware of on Earth. For our own crew that is different, and not something that should be spoken of in public.
- He said it cautiously, gently. He was not withholding information without reason.::
Blackwell: ::She exhaled:: It seemed to have been calm…::She glanced to Taybrim to see his thoughts::
Taybrim: Seemed. ::He pushed his lips together, turning his head almost like an owl on thescan for prey.:: There an emotional resonance here… paranoia. Violence.
Hael: Water - ::he offered the canteen.::
German stood up to grasp the container and quickly nodded once with a hopeful smile as a way to say his thanks, then knelt back down to give Bailey her water. Once she was able to grab it, he braced his hands around hers being careful not to spill anything on her.
Galven: Drink up, Lieutenant. ::carefully lifts the canteen, helping position it to her mouth:: That’s it. You’re doing good.
Blackwell: Rustyy? Did you grab the med kit - If needed, there should be a mild sedative we can administer ::She smiled at Bailey:: But hopefully the water will do the trick.
Hael: Yep got’i righ’ ‘ere ::he offered the kit next::
Sal took in a long, slow breath not yet letting his guard down. But he did turn towards Galven and Bailey, his expression creasing in concern.
Taybrim: How are you doing Lieutenant? I’m sorry this was an especially tough transition.
The tone of the Human male’s voice made German wonder where the commander was from. There was a hint of some kind of southern drawl which he hadn’t heard from Hael the first time, but that was most likely due to German being distracted when he was helping Bailey as he stood himself back up, wiping his uniform off.
Galven: You’re right about that, sir. The transfers were unexpected, but everything considered it wasn’t too awful.
Bailey: ::Mouth still a little dry:: I’m doing better and yes Galven is correct.
Blackwell: ::She smirked faintly and looked to Galven:: All part of the fun of Starfleet.
Taybrim: Fun – that’s a new way to put it. ::he reached out to gesture towards the medkit.:: Instead of sedatives, there should be a supplement in there to help with hydrate and replenish vital nutrients. See if you can add some to the water. ::he looked and murmured to Rustyy:: And can you please check and make sure her equipment’s fully mobile?
Before German could even think of a reaction there was movement from Hael which based on the yellow collar and the kit, German didn’t feel the need to ascertain that he was an engineer.
Hael: I can’s help with tha’. ::he stepped closer to the Bailey’s side…:: If’n’s ya don’ be mindin’ ::he smiled.::
Bailey: ::Talking to Hael:: Go right ahead, I’m not ready to get up yet. By the way, one of the wheels jammed earlier.
Hael: yea’s? ::he asked without actually asking a question.::
Bailey: I’m not sure why. Galven was able to get it going again but maybe you could soup it up.
He smiled as he kneeled down by the wheel chair.
Hael: I’s’a be reckonin’ I can do a lil’ sumthin’...
Taybrim: I’m pretty sure Rustyy can work miracles if given enough time.
He still kept his distance, giving her some room to move and breathe and others room to assist. Sal’s eyes were still on the edges of the greenspace, looking for movement and focusing on what he did catch. He was uncomfortable in the feeling that they were being watched.
Taybrim: ::Turning towards German:: Have you heard any news from the Trinity sector lately?
As the two talked Sheila noticed how some of the others moved back in order to give her some space. It made her feel better, like she had room to breathe yet at the same time made her nervous. Those men were still out there and could do god knows what to her.
Galven: ::shakes his head:: Not that I know of, but Lieutenant Bailey and I was in the Eagle Nebula region. News of anything local took longer to reach us.
Bailey: Not sure I even got any local news while out there.
Taybrim: That’s pretty far out ::he nodded slowly.:: Deep in exploration territory where you’re meeting new species and making new relationships. Back in Trinity we have the interplay of all the complex established relationships. Klingons, Romulans, Gorn, theFederation and the independent influences.
Galven: That’s a fair share of a diplomacy. When I was a junior officer in the Shoals aboard the Veritas for three months, there was a first contact situation where I learned valuable key advice.
Taybrim: The Shoals is good practice for the Trinity sector ::he agreed:: I would like to hear about your first contact when we have some down time…
He trailed off, not wanting to make it seem too obvious that this wasn’t exactly down time, even though it really should have been.
Galven: ::grins:: I look forward to that. ::glances around:: Does anyone feel like it’s a little too quiet out here?
Blackwell: ::Her eyes searched the area and she pulled out her tricorder again, murmuring:: Yes. ::Her expression had lost the easy going smile, but she kept her voice calm:: Why don’t we make for the shuttle. ::To say she was troubled was putting it mildly. She didn’t see anything of note on her readings, but even advanced technology had limitations::
Taybrim: ::With a calm smile he nodded gently:: Yes, let’s head back.
Bailey: Is it cold it anyone else or is that just me?
Everyone just kind of stopped talking for a moment as the area around them felt extremely vulnerable. At least it was that way for German when he glanced around and suddenly Sheila wailed out in surprise.
Bailey: Move!
