And he'd never take a dime for his services. Though an uneducated bartender and cook, Steve has been sought out for social gatherings, township counsel and other notable positions. All of which he makes time for, along with his family. His favorite word is , 'eh', and he loves fried anything. Steve was only 19 when Rustyy was born and being a pa that young wasn't easy. But he was happy to do it and to have several more children with the same woman. In his own way, he is proud of how his kids are doing, even Rustyy who seemed to make something of himself far beyond the stars.

She is sort of the town’s counselor, as everyone has at some point, sat down in her diner and talked with her over pie and milk. She knows everyone from town and even remembers those who've passed through the little diner she's worked at for 22 years. She's known to help anyone, sometimes even without being asked. A counselor for those who stumble in. She always knew she'd be a mama, though never imagined it to be of so many. Blood related or otherwise. Sabrine is known to bring in all sorts into the fold of her family. She defends their way of living, no matter how 'backwood' it might seem. She took it harder than she'd ever admit when they forced Rustyy to leave. Even though she was the one who stood at the door and wouldn't let him back in. She was only 17 when Rustyy was born, a baby herself. It was one of those things that brought her closer to her eldest born.

But the opposite attributes lead to them learning to lean on one another. He always had lofty goals and a desire to leave. Something just called to him. He currently is in his second semester in Starfleet, working towards HCO.

|''Age'': {{age|2373|2|2}}

Vivian is the third in line of the Hael kiddies. She's mentally slower than the rest - than anyone really. She was born with water in her brain causing developmental issues and stunts. Her brain has a hard time connecting what she wants to say into what she says, creating a language all her own with broken sentences, words and grunts. She's quiet but curious, always exploring areas. Rustyy always felt the need to protect her from others. He never treated her like she was less than anyone else. She'd been the most saddened when Rustyy left for school, not able to fully understand why. When she and the rest of the clan visited him on the Constitution, she decided she was going to move with him to Starbase 118. Unknown to Rustyy or his folks until she turned up at the station. She is currently making friends with a hybrid little girl.

He had to bulk up some more before they'd even consider bringing him on. But it hasn't slowed him down any. And he's still working on it.

Rustyy has quite the path of broken parts trailing behind him. From his first ship the USS Apollo-A. It was a breeze until his first mission chasing after three convicts. All with thoroughly frightening background. The damage didn’t start until the crew located the convicts suttle which had a dangerous virus that affected a significant amount of software. The shuttle had one of the three convicts on board, a skilled woman with too much knowledge of Starfleet vessels. Rustyy played a game of cat and mouse, repairing the damaged systems all the while trying to keep the ship from separating. Which he was unsuccessful at doing. Lucky for Rustyy, the ship was the only priority he had, unlike the rest of the crew who had to joggle recapturing the maniac on board and capturing the other two.

Shortly after all the craziness, the Apollo docked and shore leave was on everyone’s mind. But the fun never had a chance to start. Rustyy, like the rest of the Sr. staff was directed to the holodeck for some kind of training. Being as fashionable as he was, Rustyy arrived late and was locked out of the room. But the nosy engineer, using the internal sensors and visuals was able to see what his co-workers were up too. And it was nothing pretty, unless running in a dessert was pretty… Rustyy - gingerly - broke into the controls and created big rain drops to pour on his fellow crewmen. But by mistake, also caused the environmental ship controls to also rain everywhere on the ship. Of course he wouldn’t fess up to it.

Rustyy was transferred to the USS Constitution-B shortly after. Again things went smoothly until a distress call was picked up and the Conny went into action. All seemed normal, unless completely gutted engines were normal, with the crew they were assisting. Rustyy crawled around inside the Jeffrey tubes, hunting down the source of the problem. Which he found to be Borg parts draining the main systems. In an attempt to stop from further damage Rustyy electrocuted himself while on the horn with his new Commanding officer. Once Rustyy returned to the ship, only slightly fried hair, he was welcomed by the threat of Borg nanites running ramped through his precious engines. It took days to repair and shore leave is never long enough.

Rustyy has quite a path of broken parts trailing behind him. From the truck he left behind in a storage unit near San Francisco to all the ships and stations he's served on. Each one with their own opinions of the quirky, insane engineer.
Oh the menotomy of scanning space. Nothing of interest to Rustyy, so he spent most of his time tinkering with the engines and trying to keep his sleep schedule somewhat normal. Which was hard with being an Alaskan native. After oversleeping once again, from a to late of a night, Rustyy was woken up by being unceremoniously tossed to the floor from his bed. He did what he could to fix and manage the systems but they would need some type of fuel to kick start the engines back up. 1914 had some of the most stuffy clothes and Rustyy was forced to wear them so he could travel to Earth and gather missing parts and things needed for the ship. 1914 also was rather unsanitary, more so around their docks. Rustyy after avoiding getting shot, tripped and fell into the most horrendous water… And drank it. Shortly after, he was found by most likely pirates and was able to obtain a ship filled to the brim with gunpowder and fireworks. Who says the little things don’t make boys happy?
After graduation, he was shipped of to the USS Apollo-A as an engineer. No real surprise which department he's land in. But like most of his life since leaving home, there was little time to settle down or get to know anyone. They were plunged into a dangerous chase. Three convicts with terrifying backgrounds had escaped and the Apollo-A was hot on their heels. For the most part h was left to his own devices, other engineers busy at work, not interested in greeting the greenhorn. It left him perplexed and unsure of himself. Something he struggled with since childhood.
After a much deserved shore leave and resettling into current times, which for Rustyy seemed to be more difficult than normal. His heart had been stolen by the past. He snuck on a brand new, well actually old, two-cylinder, diesel, trunk motor which made him very happy. However, over shore leave he very nearly lost it. He and his fellow crewmen were launched head first into heir next mission when a mystery begged to be solved. They found a long lost Starship, the Unity, which had been missing for nearly a century. Many stories about what might have happened to her were told to young cadets, Rustyy being one of them. He sure did love a good ghost story. And in person, the Unity left much to be desired. Though Rustyy spent most of his time chasing his tail trying to fix things on all decks. His childish mind kept him preoccupied, playing unrealistic scenarios through his mind’s eye. It was a more taxing mission in regards to keep the ship together and trying to get the power back. It was like something was sucking it out as soon as they got it. Every step forward took them three back, which was taxing for the chief of engineering who only wanted to play with the older engine model. But at long last, he and his pretty slick staff did the impossible.

Which was saying something with the accent he carried.

He figured no one else must have wanted the job for him to get it. Things went smoothly until a distress call was picked up and the Conny went into action. Shortly after, he was found by most likely pirates and was able to obtain a ship filled to the brim with gunpowder and fireworks. Who says the little things don’t make boys happy? After the ship returned to normal space, Rustyy was left with a not so normal tummy problem. Bacteria and microbes crawling about making him miserable. It was then, during a late night sappy decision, that he got to know the Chief medical officer a little more. An Andorian who had traveled down to Earth with him. Rustyy found that the man was pleasant to be around, the first friend he'd found since ... leaving home really.

After such an unending, gerbil wheel mission, shore leave couldn’t come faster. Rustyy took this chance to call his mama, which also meant talking to all his siblings. Which turned into twenty questions, mostly revolving around why his mama didn’t have grandbabies yet. Which he had no good answer for. But he did find that the next oldest child, Jackson, had successfully joined the cadet ranks within Starfleet. After chatting with his family, he turned to the bottle to have some fun and get a good nights rest. Morning would come too early, though would bring some pleasing news. It was nice to get noticed by the higher ups. Shore leave would also give the curly haired man a chance to bond more in a growing friendship with the CMO, Wyn Foster. They traveled to the holodeck in search of good fun and cheesy games. Spending that kind of time with another living person showed Rustyy just how much he missed it. Between being homesick and not wanting to ruin his newest very real friendship, made his start to deal with feelings he had long learned to subpress.

He snuck on a brand new, well actually old, two-cylinder, diesel, trunk motor which made him very happy. And most of a tug boat. However, over shore leave he very nearly lost it. Another visit from Starfleet intelligence, he was under scrutiny for the illegal, out of time, stock he'd graciously acquired. Told that the good would be confiscated, Rustyy did the only thing he thought made sense.... He tore it all apart and sent it to the storage locker he had left his truck in. There wouldn't be much space in there for a while. Rustyy hoped he didn't find something else he couldn't live without.
He and his fellow crewmen were launched head first into their next mission when a mystery begged to be solved.
Shore leave is never long enough, even more so when feelings have been pulled out and now have to be pushed back in like stuffing in a teddy bear. He did his best to pick himself up off the floor when the call came from the FO T’Mar to meet with her. There was a temporary shift in power and someone had decided that he, Rustyy D Hael, would make for a good acting FO .He agreed, under the impression they were just going on a simple run. Fate had different plans, where he would have to not only leave his precious engines, but lead an away team on a diplomatic engagement. Nothing could be more out of his league. And he turned out to not be overly useful, managing to be detained and unable to help when people from the Conny were kidnapped. But he was good at agitating the guards
It seemed like shoreleave came and went but didn't bother to tell Rustyy it had stopped by. As per usual it seemed, he was found deep inside the ship. The mission about did the same. MOst of the work belonging to command and those who do the talking. But he was pulled away to lead an away mission. One he looked forward to with his friend Wyn. They split up in order to get a better feeling for the planet they were transplanting some people too, nothing seemed out of the norm. That was until Rustyy stumbled upon some heavy sap that seeped into his blood and made him high enough to think he was a worm... And a cheetah... And then pass out. That was all he remembered from the mission, until he work up in sickbay. And when he did, he woke up to find his friend badly beaten. Rustyy blamed himself for it and never really addressed those emotions. Instead bottled them up and hoped everyone would forget about his major screw up.
As he left sickbay, the Conny returning to familiar space, there was a surprise waiting for him at the station... Several actually. Apparently it was family day, and Starfleet had managed to bring out all of his immediate clan. Now stuck in mixed emotions, between happiness and self pity, Rustyy welcomed his kin folk on board. All of whom stuck out worse than he did on the ship.
He wouldn't get to stick it out on the Conny. Transfer paper came in that sent him to Starbase 118. A massive station. At first he was convinced that this was punishment, his failure resulted in his move. Even after the Conny's captain told him otherwise. It was a hard apple to swallow. Rustyy arrived in time to meet the Captain of the station - though barely enough time to check out the layers upon layers of engineering decks. It was obvious he wasn't transferred because he did something wrong.... Either that or someone thought the more work he had the worst off he'd be. Which wasn't at all the case with Rustyy. But he struggled with leaving his friend behind, almost like he'd betrayed Wyn somehow by walking away.
There was nothing slow about Ops and it didn't take long for the next adventure to begin. Given a disguise - that he didn't remember agreeing too - and a new name... One he also didn't remember agreeing to, one Colton Rustbucket, found his way with others into an illegal race. Most of his time was spent tuning the racing flyers or seeking out particularly questionable parts. Once the race began, it was all he could do to keep the flyer from peeling apart. The track was laid out well enough to eat weaker ships. Per usual, Rustyy couldn't keep things from blowing up around him. He very nearly took out the entire station the race was held at, once it had ended and a winner called. Why? Because somewhere deep in his brilliant mind, that was the right thing to do.
Ops were full of party people. And Rustyy liked a good drink. They celebrated their various victories in one of the hundreds of clubs and bars the station had to offer. Though the only reason he made t there was because of Zel. A Cardassian/Bajoran hybrid who he met while racing around the galaxy. After the beer ran dry and everyone went their own ways, Rustyy received word that he had a visitor. One he never expected. His sister Vivian had stowed away to join him on Ops. He was warmed by her want to see him more and stay with him. But also felt real concern. What if something happened to her? It wouldn't have been easy to get her home so for the time being he decided to keep with him... That was, after a long brutal talk with his mama who had a number of words on the subject.
Rustyy stepped down as head of engineering to help focus his efforts on civilian Ops programs for retrofitting and upgrading the commercial sections of Ops. This position seemed to be made conveniently available after his younger siblings were sent to stay with him while his father received medical treatment for an illness they refused to go into detail on. While he knew there was more going on then what he was told, he took charge and did not argue with his new charges. He didn't mind having them so close anyways.
After a few months Rustyy’s mom called and made an unusual request. They were looking for a genetic match for his father to help with curing him. And out of all their children, Rustyy was the closest match. He requested time off and sent out with the rest of the Hael children herd, back to Alaska. It took time and patience and strong family support but as of Sept 9th his father was announced cured and on his way to a full recovery. Rustyy spent a little more time visiting and long talks with his mom about his return and possibly the return of his siblings back to Starbase 118. Vivian will follow him, and the twins showed a desire too.
4 Hael’s arrived back on Ops, the twins eager to pick up where they left off, the oldest ready to sink back into mechanical mayhem and Vivian was ready to return to the world she was coming to love, not that anyone other than Rustyy could tell. Vivian had started to make her own routines. Instead of trailing behind in her family’s overprotective shadow.
