Jackie Mason was born and raised on the south side of Chicago on Earth. He grew up living in his parent’s home. When Jackie was growing up, his father worked for the city of Chicago in a patronage job, and his mother worked in one of the many administrative offices at Starfleet Academy, commuting 4 days a week from Chicago to San Francisco. In high school, he maintained a solid “A” average and applied for admission to several universities, with an interest in psychology as well as an interest in interplanetary studies. He was accepted by half of the universities he applied to and made his decision to progress toward a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at The University of Tempe in Arizona. | |||
Between his second and third year of course work he took a gap year off – half of that year spent visiting the other continents of Earth. The other half of the year he spent in Florida, where he volunteered his strength and his ability to hit a nail with a hammer, to the effort to help clear debris and build new housing in Florida after that year’s round of hurricanes had pummeled the west coast of Florida. | |||

Following completion and graduation at the age of 22 with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies, Jackie went to work for a space transportation company at their offices in Scottsdale, in the human resources department. While there he enrolled in the Master’s Degree program at the University of Tempe and in his spare time pursued a Master's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. He earned his Master’s before his 25th birthday. By then, he had already applied to Starfleet Academy and was accepted. He resigned from his position with the space transportation company to begin the four-year program at Starfleet Academy. | |||
