She relished her time on Earth as she experienced not just the foreign culture of New York City, but also the many different cultures that mingled through one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the Federation. As her residency wound down to an end and she started thinking about the next step of her career she found herself investigating Starfleet as a way to sate her desire for new experiences. She made the leap and took the entrance examinations for officer candidate school. After qualifying, she spent a few months learning what it meant to be a Starfleet officer, and then served a year as a Cadet and trauma surgery and critical care fellow onboard the ''USS Mercy.'' Officially graduated, she was positioned as the junior medical officer on the ''USS Brisbane,'' where she served for nearly four years before being transferred to the [[Duronis II Embassy]].
