Background
Gwen was born and raised in Hong-Kong, China on Terra. Her father was a wealthy American CEO of a major Fashion industry (Gardener Designs) and her mother was a top-rated international super-model. Her parents were never around much as she was growing up, and Gwen was raised mostly by her Chinese nanny. Gwen's father, Ryan, was assassinated on her thirteenth birthday right in front of her, and she has never looked at her birthday the same way again. Though she and her father were never close he meant a lot to her. Gwen's mother, Stella, sold Gardener Designs for a large amount of money and then died of a brain tumour right after her eighteenth birthday leaving Gwen with her parents combined fortune. After her mother's funeral, Gwen flew to San Francisco to attend Starfleet Academy and she doubled majored in Engineering and Helm/Navigation. She took an elective learning Klingon during her final years at the Academy.
Personality
A little about how Gwen handles her birthday: Gwen's birthday is the single day of the year where she is less than chipper, her father's death took a heavy toll on her and now every year on her birthday she has flashbacks of the event that stole her father's life and she immerses herself in her work trying desperately to forget it. Though the majority of the pain has subsided, now her only fear is that she’ll end up with a similar fate. Gwen treats her birthday as a day that is meant for work not parties and will most likely decline any attempts to get her to enjoy it. She’s less afraid of dying itself but more afraid she’ll die in the presence of someone she cares about and for this reason, intimacy with others is not her strong suit. She is still a virgin and has never had an intimate relationship.
