Born 4th in a family with 5 children Dorian is the only member of his family to enter Starfleet. He has very limited contact with his parents and siblings.

Dorian was a less than average student owing mainly to his lack of personal discipline. While at the academy he devoted much of his free time to studying hand to hand combat forms with an eye towards improving his personal discipline although it unclear whether this had the effect he had hoped. Dorian also has great interest in engineering.
