    • Note: Three planets are listed as the homeworld of the Boslic - Boslic (DS9: "The Homecoming"), Cort (TLE novel: Serpents Among the Ruins), and Bosala II (referenced three times on the Internet). Cort is described as blue-green in color and similar in appearance to planet Koltaari (no reference of a planet by this name was found). I believe that the explanation for having three planets stems from two things.
      • 1. They are a spacefaring race with no real roots in any one place.
      • 2. It's possible that since there are two different physical descriptions of the race that each one could come from different planets, but all fall under the general term "Boslic."

History

At one point, Cort was conquered and occupied by the Romulan Star Empire. The occupation lasted for ten years until the Boslics were able to overthrow the Romulans and drive them off the planet. (TLE novel: Serpents Among the Ruins)

  • 2154 - several Boslic slave traders attended the Orion slave auctions on Verex III. (ENT: "Borderland")
  • 2370s - Boslic freighters frequently visited Deep Space 9. (DS9: "Babel")
  • 2372 - a Boslic freighter was involved in a contraband smuggling operation uncovered by Klingon-turned-Bajoran officer Kurn.

Government

The Boslic have remained unaligned, despite a long history of trade relations with the Federation, and have yet to achieve a unified planetary government. This is largely do to the fact, as space faring people, most of them are born aboard their freighters, and they are governed by the requirements of the family unit.

Description

The Boslics were a neutral, spacefaring humanoid race.

  • Females: Akin to the Ferengi, Boslics were often referred to as the "Beautiful Ferengi." The differences were many, but the contrast in physical appearance was the biggest. they are often described as alluring and seductive. Boslic women were of a slender build, and almost as tall as a Klingon. Their four-lobe brain didn't require the distorted look of the Ferengi. The only distortion having a Y shaped indention on the forehead. Some have significantly protruding bones above sparkling white, almost translucent eyes. And with their fair peachy skin tone set off with Their hair has purple hues ranging from light lavender to a deep violet., they were considered striking, appealing to males of all species. So much so, they lavished gifts freely, merely to be in their presence, much like the legendary Geisha on Earth.

  • Males Boslic men are characterized by ridged foreheads, wrinkled noses, creased cheek bones and brown or black hair, although some females of the species also have this appearance.

Physiology

Boslics have at least two distinct morphologies to their appearance. One type of Boslic had a smooth forehead and brow that brimmed slightly over the eyes, and meeting from both sides, together at the top of the nose. The second morphology type is characterized by ridged foreheads, wrinkled noses, and creased cheek bones.

Psychology

Religion

No particular religion is followed by the Boslic, although they do seen to strive for toward a singular goal. . . amassing great wealth.

Mythology

Society

Having no particular allegiance to a homeworld, most Boslics make their homes on their freighters. The crews are usually made up of two to three different families, who socialized aboard ship, often choosing mates between family units. Some crews are made up of single family units, and mates are found at meets where they sell their cargo. They usually favor DS9 for these events.

In general, Boslics are very secretive to keep others from exploiting their trade routes and contacts. The are known to amassed fortunes, but only use it to purchase what they need, but will splurge on new and larger freighters to maintain their trade. Generally ethical people, they will transport anything for the right price. Some have ties to gunrunners, pirates, and slave traders, although they keep it low key.

Culture

Boslic free-traders are sanctioned by the Boslic culture, which is much like that of the Ferengi, but more ethical, elegant and charismatic.

Customs

Bowing of the head is a sign of respect in the Boslic culture.

Technology

Boslics are warp capable, but more often than not, they rely on purchased vessels (freighters and shuttles), so they can devote their energies to trading. Weaponry and other technology are also purchased and traded.

Economy

The Boslic economy is dependent on what they can managed to buy and sell. Although they generally adhere to trading legal merchandise, some of the families have been know to trade with pirates, acted as gunrunners, and indulged in other questionable activities. In 2154, several Boslic slave traders attended the Orion slave auctions on Verex III. (ENT: "Borderland") and Several Boslics appeared in the audience of a holographic Tsunkatse match, in the Delta Quadrant. (VOY: "Tsunkatse"). Many buy and sell their wares on DS9, which seems to be the Mecca for their trades. During the 2370s, Boslic freighters frequently visited Deep Space 9. (DS9: "Babel") In 2372, a Boslic freighter was involved in a contraband smuggling operation uncovered by Klingon-turned-Bajoran officer Kurn. (DS9: "Sons of Mogh")

Military

Organized security forces to guard against the those who present a threat is limited to the individual family units aboard their vessels. In essence the family members are the sole protectors of their home.
