History

Government

Although the Breen are politically non-aligned, many Breen act as pirates or raiders, jeopardizing their neutrality.

Description

A humanoid species from a cold planet that operates in a politically non-aligned manner and are reputed to be aggressive, with outposts in Sector 97. The Breen normally wear heavy robes and an environmental support mask in a class M environment.

Physiology

Betazoids are unable to detect the Breen empathically. Very little is known about their physiology.

Psychology

Religion

Mythology

Society

Culture

Very little is known about their culture. A Breen pilot was sent to the race hosted by Deep Space Three, accused of being bribed by Ferengi to throw the race.

Customs

Technology

While the Federation has some knowledge of their ways, the Breen's use of cloaking technologies coupled with powerful disruptor-style weapons makes them both formidable and inaccessible to the Federation.

They have Type-III disruptors like both the Romulans and Klingons, but would not kill all victims.

Military

The disruptor-type, close-range damage done to the SS Vico in the Black Cluster is consistent with their battle tactics and their level of technology - meaning the Federation has some knowledge of their ways. But a motive for the Breen to be inside the cluster is puzzling.
