239712.06 Field Tests
//Personal Log 239712.06
Hey! Life's been really interesting since I graduated the Academy. I was actually just posted to the USS Veritas which is just really cool! I can't believe I finally made it! It just feels so amazing to be on a REAL star ship. Also, I was on my first mission. I mean it wasn't an away mission. I'm not so sure anyone trusts me with that yet. The Veritas was tasked with saving the SS Duncan Dunbar... or I mean what's left of it... from an asteroid and get this - it was actually a generation ship. Like an actual generation ship! I've only ever heard about them. Like back in the Academy, I heard about one being hauled by two Cali classes back in the 80s. But seeing one in person? Amazing!
Oh and before I get too off track, my holographic AI had his first field tests! I'm super proud of him. He was able to handle surgery on a crewman who got caught up in a transporter explosion. He did an amazing job on a real patient. But that's not the only thing he accomplished that day. He was actually able to negotiate with the other AI on the generation ship to get it to stop holding on to the Veritas with a gravitational pull. I mean he did do it with Captain Rahman. But he DID pave the way for this to happen. Also, he came up with the solution in order to save everyone living on the asteroid. I'm just really proud of him!
In other news, Dr. Emi has left the ship. She's left some of her plants behind so I'm taking care of them while she's gone. ... And well... the rest of the sickbay as well. We don't have a CMO. So it's kinda sorta up to me to look after things. I'm a bit nervous, actually. Sure, all things medicine is my element. I also have Holokaia around to help out on the things I can't exactly do myself such as major surgeries. I'll just have to do my best! Also, make sure I have a ton of lolipops on hand for good patients. You are never too old to have one. I think Alieth would be happy to know that I'm still keeping up with the treats thing we came up with in Bedside Manner class.
Right now, we're on our way to Donova IV in about three days. From what I've read, it's a tropical farming planet. Kind of reminds me of Moloka‘i. But that does remind me that I am going to have to make sure everyone is up on their vaccines around here. I don't want anyone getting sick.
Oh right! I think I hear someone calling me. Pretty sure I'm needed with another patient. See you later!
