History

By the mid-23rd century, Zeon had been living in peace for many generations, and had developed the beginnings of interplanetary spaceflight. Noticing the state of anarchy among the warlike, pre-spaceflight Ekosians, many Zeons came to Ekos in an effort to help their neighbors learn peaceful ways. Sometime after 2218, a Zeon colony was established on Ekos.

After the cultural contamination of John Gill and the takeover of the Nazi regime by Melakon, Zeons became a hunted people on Ekos. Using the Nazi model, Melakon used the presence of Zeons in much the same way as Adolf Hitler used the Jews of Germany and Europe, scape-goats to be blamed for Ekos' problems and eventually a threat to be eliminated. With the technology elicited from Gill, Melakon rapidly upgraded Ekosian weapons. By 2268, the "Final Decision", an genocidal invasion on the planet Zeon, was preparing for deployment.

The USS Enterprise, assigned to discover what had happened to John Gill, arrived just before the launch of the invasion against Zeon. The intervention of Kirk, Spock and McCoy roused Gill in time to call-off the attack, and Gill recanted his beliefs to Kirk as he died, insisting that the Prime Directive was "the only way".

The regime created by Gill and Melakon proved to be weaker than their German model. The Nazi government and the "Final Decision" was not embraced by all of Ekos. An underground alliance of Zeons and Ekosians had formed, including high-level Nazi party members who wanted no part in the genocide. Kirk's actions allowed the Zeon Isak to kill Deputy Führer Melakon. Afterwards, there appeared to be no impediment to the worlds working together. Spock observed that the union of the two cultures would make a fine addition to the Federation.

However while both planets have continued to develop peacefully many of the Zeons have returned to their own world. While they are still on peaceful terms with the Ekosians and most of the people who lived through the insanity have passed on their is still a faint undercurrent of belief that has prevented them from becoming allies.

Government

They have a council of elders that represents all 8 regions on the planet. The only requirements for membership on this council is that the individual must be 50 years of age or more and have at least 2 different degrees in 2 different fields of study.

Description

They are peace-loving pacifists who, physically are almost indistinguishable from Nordic and European archatypes on the planet Earth.

Physiology

Other than a few minior chemical and hormonial differance's their physiology is fairly close to that of the Ekosians. Both species have many similarities with Terrans.

Psychology

On the whole they tend to be fairly stable mentally as a race however they also seem to be genetically predisposed to avoiding conflict and any act of aggression.

Religion

They believe that regardless of the species that all individuals are brothers. All a part of the same universal family. Created by the same spirit that created the universe it self. This being, the Creator watch's over all.

Technology

They tend to be a very intelligent species and excel in technological advancements as is evident by their arts and sciences. Due to their genetic disposition towards finding peaceful solutions to problems they are natural diplomats and a generous people. They are very open to sharing their discoveries with their neighbors.

However because of the shared history with the Ekosians they have adobted a different policy with them. While they will share all medical knowledge as soon as it has been proven to be useful they do not pass on other technology until it has become obsolete for them.

Economy

They have a very well developed internal as well as external trade system. As a result they export and import a wide variety of items.

Military

They have never had a military force and still do not. However they have built and placed into orbit a large number of defensive satelites and a few deep space scanners and advance warning systems.
