Born in 2368 on Luna to Reyna Bentley, a dedicated medical doctor in the bustling city New Vegas, and Vostro Dakora, a Federation Ambassador stationed in Alvania. While her parents were never married and eventually went their separate ways, their respective professions left a lasting imprint on Adara's upbringing.
Adara's early years unfolded against the backdrop of the Dominion occupation of Betazed. However, her mother's decision to reside on Luna during this tumultuous period shielded her from the direct horrors of the invasion. It was her older brothers, Hanek and Talos, who experienced the emotional scars of Betazed's occupation more intensely.
Throughout her childhood, Adara exhibited an innate curiosity about the world around her. Despite struggling to connect with her peers, she excelled academically, setting herself apart from her brothers, for whom studying and book-learning did not come as easily.
As Adara entered adolescence, her father, recognizing her potential, urged her to join Starfleet Academy. Taking his advice, Adara enrolled and discovered a transformative environment. Surrounded by like-minded individuals, she not only continued to excel academically but also forged meaningful friendships, breaking free from the isolation that had characterized her earlier years.
In 239005, Adara graduated from Starfleet Academy and stationed on DS26 as Science Officer. After graduating from Starfleet Academy, Adara Bentley's insatiable thirst for knowledge led her to pursue advanced education through various distance learning programs. Undeterred by the challenges of space travel and the demands of her burgeoning Starfleet career, Adara embarked on a journey of remote study, delving deeper into the intricate realm of nanotechnology. Adara might be considered quirky to some, but she would balk at that description. On duty, she has a specific way of doing things that focuses on efficiency before diplomacy. This often causes others to view her as cold or disconnected. While she enjoys the company of others, she can also be quite happy on her own, pouring over the latest discoveries in the Federation Science Journals or occasionally indulging in some trashy Betazoid psychodrama novel. Romantically, she has had a few of relationships, only one that she would consider serious. In her experience, intra-ship romances cause too many complications when they inevitably implode. She now avoids them when possible.

In 2391 Bentley was assigned to the USS Atlantis NCC-74682 after it's reactivation as a science officer.
She arrived just in time to take part in a diplomatic mission to escort a Grenushi ambassador around the treacherous Jenatris Cloud to Uzoka 4. The situation proved to be even more complex when it was revealed that the "gifts" that the ambassador bore were actually living creatures that seemed to be composed of the very cloud itself. Things came to a head when a militant activist group attacked the Atlantis in order to try and free the captured Jenatris animals. Being a relatively weak empath, she only received minor headaches from the effects of the cloud creatures, while other more powerful telepaths were injured far more severely.
