Ossa V'Airu is an officer of the Federation Starfleet, currently assigned as commanding officer of the USS Oumuamua. She served as a tactical officer and an operations officer early in her career, and she served as a starship commander with the Eighth Fleet during the Dominion War.
Commodore V'Airu appears to be fully Vulcan at first glance, though her black Betazoid eyes give her heritage away. Following her parents' example, she is not a follower of Surak and practices little traditional Vulcan philosophy, and so identifies as V'tosh ka'tur.

Ossa maintains strong ties to Betazed and her Betazoid heritage, and enjoys many forms of art. She is acquainted with the designer Aanlis Mou of the Cult of Karawati, who has on more than one occasion created couture gowns for Ossa in exchange for Ossa wearing those gowns at exclusive Federation functions.
