History
The USS Columbia encountered a member of the Vadhavulan race while conducting a search for their missing captain. After initial hostilities ceased, the Vadhavulan male briefly assisted the away team. Later they saved this individual from an impending nuclear reactor meltdown.
Government
The structure of the government used by the Vadhavulans is unknown. Human augments who settled on the planet appear to have asserted dominance over the race and engage in skirmishes with the people. The augments have taken over the Vadhavulan settlements for their own use, leaving those towns to be mostly abandoned.
Description
The humanoid species is characterized by long vented ears and reflective eyes. They also have a posture not seen in many humanoid species and stand significantly taller than most humans.
Technology
The Vadhavulans appear to be at a post-nuclear level of technology. They are a pre-warp species and as such are restricted from further direct contact. They have access to laser weapons, instead of conventional phaser or disruptor fire.
Economy
Intra-planetary trade is conducted by traveling tradesmen. They employ pack animals called cowmels to transport goods through the arid regions of the planet. Subsistence farming is the most common trade among the populace.
Federation Intelligence Files
