Personal History

Makal Kora was raised on the planet Earth by his mother, Rosemary. His father, who she had met while both of them went to Starfleet Academy, had left for the Maquis... he felt that he had to fight for his home world, and for his people, even if it meant abandoning his newborn son, Makal, and his wife, Rosemary.

In a sense, Makal was inspired by this. He vowed to himself to only start a relationship with someone he knew and someone he felt he could value over anything. As of such, he has had a relatively quiet personal life, dating only rarely during his years at the academy. His only known girlfriend being Sarrin Fox, a friend he met during vacation.

Spending his young years hanging out around StarFleet Headquarters in San FranSisco, Makal was fascinated by the large, beautiful ships he saw depicted in the museums. When ever he could, he would beg his mother for a trip to Starbase 01, in order to see the larger starships dry-docked there.

During his terms at the Academy, Makal became friends with his roommate Makra Horne, and eventually with a young student in on of the Engineering classes Makal helped in, Alana Devar. The three friends grew fairly close through out the years, and went through several training missions together, including the PREX evaluation.

Makal still writes his friends daily, as he was assigned to the USS Victory, while they got the USS Constitution-B. Later, Captain Anassasi and the crew of the Constitution-B were transfered to the USS Independence.

In one of his first missions onboard the USS Victory, Makal was injured during an explosion inside a jeffries tube. Upon his rescue, a changeling disguised as the doctor tortured him, and removed his eyesight for what was thought to be permanent. In order to see, Makal currently wears a visor.

During the Classified mission between 238004.03-238006.30, Makal was injured- while recovering he seems to recall the experiences of having lived a second life on Bajor where he was a Vedek over seventy years ago, before the Cardassian invasion. He currently is dealing with incorporating that life with his current one, and is in sparratic contact with what he belives to be the Prophets. Shortly after this incident, Makal received a subspace communication from the Kai, he has only informed the ship's Counselor about it's contents.

Makal's father was found under deep cover in Cardassian space. During a confrontation with the older Kora, Makal came to terms with some of the issues he still remembered from his fatherless life. Makal's father is currently n Bajor with his mother.

During the Cardassian Peace Mission, an ambush caused the deaths of over half the crew of the USS Nokia, an Ambassador Class ship, and several of the Victory Crew. Makal acted as the Vedek and the driving force for the Memorial. He also made the personal decision to act as a spiritual advisor, should any of the crew need such advice- a path he feels the Prophets have led him to.

Recently an incident involving the Tholians had a secondary effect on Makal. During a classified event in Cargobay 3, Makal some how re-grew his optic nerves. Details are incomplete as the entire event is still under investigation.

With the discovery of the fate of the USS Vespa, and the specific details of the mission classified, Makal returned with the Victory to StarBase 118 to find he had been reassigned with Commander Avatar as well as several key Victory personnel to the USS Columbia.

Shortly after the maiden voyage of the Columbia, Makal found himself in the position to accept a role in the Bajoran embassy. As a senior Starfleet Officer, and a Vedek, Makal jumped at the chance. However due to a incident with another party on Bajor, Makal returned to the Columbia after only a month away.
