First Mission aboard Embassy of Duronis II/USS Thunder-A - Gaev's Gambit
Stardate Log
239112.26 On my way to join my new crew, my shuttle changed the destination and instead of taking me to Duronis II, what was original destination it took me to join Embassy's ship USS Thunder-A. Ship was in the asteroid belt. When I reached the Bridge I was asked to man the engineering station and I think I did a proper choices. We were going into the Zone held by some lowlifes to save our officers and Ambassador from the slave traders. My next task was to check on the repairs on the ship. I was worried, but proud of the task and again I think I was good in accomplishing the task. I made beginners mistake expecting the repairs to last as long as it was expected by the amount of repairs on the list, but forgot of the possible causes for the damages and time needed to repair those in the first place. Next time I will do as all the engineers do and in estimating time will add at least 40% more time to be sure I am not late with repairs. When I reported about the repairs, Marine Colonel in charge, while he knew of everything, obviously decided to ignore it. It was very nice of him and I truly appreciate it. Those were a long few days, with short sleeps cut with excitement and worry and I'm ready for a good long whole night's sleep.
239201.28 We were on the mission which never happened, officially just went to patrol and test repairs on the ship. Mission never happened because we entered the Cardassian territory to seek Iconian artifact before it falls into Cardassian hands, but actually to try and save T'Lea from Cardassian Dal who kidnapped her. Small team went to investigate on the planet, while Thunder-A stayed near to extract them when the artifact was found. Of course it didn't played as planned and after a fight with Cardassian ship we fought with dragon creature from another planet, maybe even plane of existence. Fortunately we didn't have to kill the creature who was just a worried mother. After beaming our injured team back on the ship we returned to Til'ahn. - This document is sealed and signed to be deleted without opening in case of death.
239202.01 Last two days I spent learning about Til'ahn, that's how locals call Duronis II, where the Embassy I'm assigned to is. Beautiful planet with warm sea and very hot suns. I must carry lances to protect my eyes. Fleet Captain Turner tasked me with organizing the event. She didn't tell me what it is, but listening to her conversation with our Xo, I found out it is promotion ceremony for Commander Nugra. I met huge lizard during my finals in Academy, he was my XO on the mission. I know I didn't do everything perfectly, but I did my best and everything was in order, with a little tweaking here and there during the ceremony. A day after the ceremony we were ordered to report for the briefing for a new mission, but about that in the next log.
Second Mission aboard Embassy of Duronis II/USS Thunder-A - Luxis III
Stardate Log
239203.09 Our mission to Rhil'ahn, also known as Luxis III was recalled before it even started. We were supposed to help Laudeans set the mining stations on the land and under the water of the O class planet; but after the appearance of the spatial anomaly which rendered Victory almost unusable and flooded the land facility, we could only evacuate them from the planet. Anomaly vanished after half an hour, just like the singularity in the Dran'tis Sector and singularity in Durnova Sector. Yes father, I'm still reading news every morning. One is coincidence, but two are a pattern and I should mention that in the briefing. I didn't. It was mistake. My mistake. I could prevent the destruction of Victory, maybe even save the project. If... there's so many if's and I feel so guilty. But it taught me important lesson and next time I will not falter. Good news is that Victory was disabled but not as badly destroyed as it was initially looking like, so I think up to now it may even be fully repaired and on its way to next mission. We returned to Embassy for a shore leave and to wait our orders. I'm helping with repairs on a ship which was completely "cleaned". Old Miranda class ship, but having it as a clean shell we can use all the modern technology to upgrade it and I think we may produce very good ship.
239203.21 I'm sitting on the beautiful beach, the day is perfect, neither too hot nor too moist and makes the atmosphere of the beach party fantastic. Food is great and I performed in front of everyone, without a single mistake. I even liked it, especially the applause. But I'm lonely and sad... feeling less and less belonging here. I miss my family; mom, dad and most of all Tea. I was thinking of my Academy days and how often I was visiting home. I'm sorry to say that, but I can live without parents, but I need Tea... I need you my sister. You knew that, right? You joined Academy with me knowing I will not be able to leave home without you coming with me? You knew! Then you started to abandon it slowly, giving me more and more space till you completely dropped from it. But I didn't get trained to live without you, I didn't. I still need you. I'm sitting here on this beautiful beach and instead of enjoying this wonderful day I'm crying. Everyone has somebody to share this day with. Our XO has newborn baby. I didn't want to be a nuisance and instead of going to them to congratulate I sent my gift. I bought them several different sets of baby handkerchiefs, pads and napkins for baby and added to the package one of the cigars dad packed me to have for the occasions like this. I was thinking should I put whole box, but I didn't know will I be able to travel home in next 6 months and we're expecting another baby then. Sending gift with a card was mistake. I could give it to them here and it would be a way to approach the people to talk to someone. Without a gift it feels intrusive. Last few days were pretty intensive and interesting. I was working on something I could never imagine to be one of my first engineering projects. In the sandbar near the planet was uncovered a shell of the Miranda class ship. Hull was intact, so it was brought to the shipyard here and I was tasked with renovation. Small, but tough ship with modern day technology. Fantastic. It's going to be a blast making it operational.
239204.22 So the Miranda got retrofitted, I made suggestions how to make her stronger and better and Brell (our Operations officer) made some really neat suggestions about tactical upgrades and when it was all approved we run for it. It was not easy, I can say it now. I'm tired from this shore leave, but it was truly rewarding and exciting experience. I learned enough in a short time since I joined Embassy to don't say I will not experience anything more exciting, but I'm sure this will be one of the most cherished memories of my professional life. I recently learned the name of the ship, it's USS Bronwyn, she was very special person and it is great to know this ship will carry her name. We had surprise beach party organized by Rear Admiral Turner and it brought to me personally two big surprises. One was arrival of my twin sister and the other was promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade. I thought Tea arrived just to visit me, but she decided to stay and work as a doctor aboard the USS Bronwyn. We are launching ship tomorrow and I'm pretty excited. That's probably why I'm so tired and that is the reason why this log is so short.
