Background

Connor was born and raised near Los Angeles in California, where his parents run a small, but well-known restaurant in the area. His father, Richard, runs the front, while his mother, Ava, was an excellent cook. Until his first day of school, he - together with his loved sister - got the chance to be around a lot and took in the idyllic atmosphere of a well run family restaurant. During school, he never faced any challenge, made a lot of friends and had a terrific childhood.

Since then, cooking has been something he took with him on his journey through life. While he sometimes thought that he might take his parents' offer to learn to be a professional chef in their own restaurant, during his high-school years he learned that there was an even greater passion: Repairing whatever was broken in the kitchen. He was extraordinarily gifted when it came to fixing the stove, the exhaust or the baking oven. This laid a lot of groundwork during the coming years for several engineering projects Connor did and, finally, for his choice to become an engineer.

The impulse to join Starfleet then came from his grandparents, who had both been Starfleet officers. His mother was raised on several Starships and had a lot of interesting stories about what it was like to be on Starfleet vessels as a kid. It was on Christmas Eve in his last high school year, that his grandparents told him the story of their first mission together and what it meant to them to be part of the Starfleet family. So, after high school - while still being a kid to a substantial degree - Connor decided that he wanted to embark on that adventure, much to the liking of his parents and grandparents.

During his four years at the Academy, he recurrently came home to his family, sharing a strong bond with all of them. He managed to excel in engineering classes while taking on Science as his minor. He made a lot of friends during those years, not least because he spent a lot of time at the local bars.

It was until 2398 that Connor never had to deal with doubt, grief or pain in his life. During this year, his sister succumbed to a rare disease that could not be treated. This set Connor's world on fire and gave him a deep sense of insecurity. During the coming year, he had to fight through the pain and try to stay on his track while challenging a lot of his own decisions and his ability to cope with challenges. Shortly after, he got his orders to get to Starbase 118 to finish his academy training. While this was once what he strived for, the separation from his family made it even harder on him. He, however, tries to keep his insides sealed and measures himself by the same standards he did before the incident.

To end your bio, we're going to drop in some code here for your ship's crew template, which should appear at the bottom of your bio and will help members of the fleet easily browse other bios of your shipmates. Change the name of the ship below to whatever the name of your character's ship is, unless of course you've been assigned to the USS Gemini! Don't forget the letter suffix for your ship if yours has one (such as the USS Darwin-A).
