The Vandenburg has been around for 21 years, and has been on virtually every type of mission you can think of. It has seen numerous personnel changes, but has only ever had one commanding officer, Admiral Jacob Russell Krieger. The Vandenburg is one of the old Standard models of the Nebula-class, but has had systems upgrades whenever needed. It did not participate in the Battle of Wolf 359, but saw a tremendous amount of action during the Dominion War. The Vandenburg has been stationed in the Bajor Sector for the last 10 years, monitoring and patrolling the Cardassian border. Immediately after the war was over, the Vandenburg was reassigned to Deep Space 26, to take advantage of Admiral Krieger's experience. The Vandenburg uses the large upper equipment section of the ship for sensor augmentation.
