History
Thousands of Suliban emigrated to the Tandar Sector after their homeworld became uninhabitable in the 1850s, but when the Suliba Cabal began a war against the Tandarans in 2144, all of the Suliban were rounded up and placed in detention camps for fear that they would provide an avenue for infiltration by the Cabal. These Suliban were relocated to places such as Detention Complex 26 "temporarily." Years later, they were still waiting to be released.
In 2151 the Enterprise was attacked by two Tandaran patrol ships while attempting to rescue Jonathan Archer and Travis Mayweather from a Tandaran internment camp. Despite being outnumbered, the Enterprise was able to inflict enough damage to these vessels to force them to land on the planets surface for repairs.
In February 2152, Jonathan Archer encountered a physically altered Tandaran agent named Keyla on Risa.
By the 24th century, conditions had changed enough that they had officially apologized to the Suliban for atrocities committed against them during the war. Doing so was a condition of their application for Federation membership, and they were officially accepted in the 2320s.
Government
As of 2152, they were governed by the Tandaran Central Magistrate. Even now that they have become members of the Federation this system of government is still in use will very few changes.
Description
They appear to be typical humans, although they all seem to be Caucasian and tend to be generally more fit as a species.
Physiology
While they may look like humans they have a number of fairly basic differences when it comes to their internal organs. As well as certain enzyme and chemical differences.
Psychology
As with most intelligent humanoids they have the same tendency to develop some mental health issues although they tend to develop fewer old age related issues than most other species.
Religion
They believe in a unique dual deity system. These deities are a brother and sister who were born at the birth of creation. They shaped the worlds and formed the stars in this part of the galaxy. Then when they were finished they created Tandar and seeded it with the spark of life.
Huge stone statues of these siblings were carved into a massive cliff face and have been preserved and repaired when needed.
However what makes their religion unique is that all male Tandarans worship the male deity Tan and all the females worship the sister deity Dar.
Mythology
They have a rich and well documented collection of myths that cover a number of different time periods and locations on their world prior to unification. These stories seem to be a well balanced mix of pure fiction, morals teaching and social education.
Society
To outsiders they seem to be a very strict, rigid people. However this is totally incorrect. They have a well developed system to ensure that all citizens not only receive the necessities of life but opportunities as well. Not only that but among themselves they are willing to lower the walls and show their true personalities.
Culture
As a species they do enjoy various types of artistic expression. Since joining the Federation they have been exposed to many new types of art forms and music. As a result it is not uncommon to suddenly come face to face with some form of off world artistic expression. Sometimes in the most unlikely places.
Customs
As a species they tend to be fairly stoic and are considered to be reserved around other species. This is merely a long standing social custom. With people they know and are close or friendly with they will display feelings, emotions and friendship.
Technology
They are considered to be as highly advanced as the Vulcans and other science driven members of the Federation. As a result by the late 24th century, the Tandarans were known for their research into time travel and temporal mechanics.
Economy
They are completely self sufficient and have a very strong trade system with not only their other colonies but all the species within their sector. Not only that but since they became members of the Federation they have been able to extend this trade system to include many new worlds and trade partners.
Military
At one time they had a very large military but this has slowly changed with time. Now they have a smaller force but one with ships almost as advanced as anything being turned out by Starfleet. This force is used to protect and defend their own sector and the other species within it.
