This article is a stub. You can help 118Wiki by expanding it. Cestus III is a member of the United Federation of Planets, admitted in 2271. The colony world is the 3rd in its star system. Originally settled on the borders of the Federation and the Gorn Hegemony, the planet came under attack by the Gorn in 2267. The original outpost was destroyed by the Gorn in an incident involving the USS Enterprise, under the command of James Kirk. The planet was left uncolonised until the outpost and colony were refounded in 2271. The planet was admitted into the Federation later that year. Since the rebuilding of the colony, the planet has become a shared world, with the Gorn maintaining outposts alongside the federation colonists. The planet is a minor success story in coexistence between the two powers, and the various colonies on the surface maintain peaceful trading relations and assist in each others' defense. The colony is, oddly enough, well known for its baseball teams - most famously the Cestus Comets and the Pike City Pioneers. Despite its shared status the planet is somewhat barren, with much of the surface being arid, rocky, and thinly forested. Copper is extremely common, a factor that has led to the planet's overall greenish hue. Its richest resources come from mining. The Cestus system in located in the Beta Quadrant, in the far reaches of the Galaxy's spiral arms. It borders the Gorn Hegemony, the Klingon Empire, and the Metron Consortium. |
