History
In the early-2050s, the Arkonians achieved warp capability. The Vulcans soon made first contact with them, but it wasn't incredibly successful. They proved to be suspicious and deceitful, and the Vulcans were soon recalled.
For more than a century after that, the Arkonians and the Vulcans had rocky relations. Arkonian destroyer captains would be wary of any ship that had even a single Vulcan on it. In fact their are records that seem to suggest that capital punishment was to be expected by captains allowing Vulcans on their ship.
Whatever the truth the Arkonians have managed to expand their Empire to cover parts of 3 sectors of space. This is mainly in part due to their early military conquests followed by the settling of colonies on any planet that would support life. After this they even managed to terraform a couple border line planets.
While there has never been any conflict between the Federation and the Arkonians, there have been a few close calls.
Government
They have a strange form of military dictatorship for a government. The highest ranking military officer called Kron is the head of the government. Upon his death the military officers that form the next level called Ar'Kon rally their supporters. The strongest becomes the next Kron. Upon occasion this has resulted in pitched battles between competing officers.
Description
The Arkonians are a reptilian humanoid species with thick gray leathery skin with numerous bumps and ridges. They tend to wear clothes that are the same shade and color as their skin.
Physiology
Arkonians did not appear to have sweat glands, and their bodies' hydration system is not based on water. Instead they drink a brown liquid that they call "tarratt-aash". Their saliva has healing properties, as it can quickly repair skin abrasions. Their cellular structure is not capable of handling rapid temperature changes.
Psychology
They tend to be very single minded, letting nothing interfere with them achieving their objective. They also have a noticeable dislike for other species, especially Vulcans.
Religion
They believe they are the honoured ones. Hand picked to rule the stars.
Mythology
There are no records available regarding their myths.
Society
They have a very strict society, with everyone working hard for the betterment of the whole.
Culture
There are no records available regarding their culture.
Customs
There are no records available regarding their customs.
Technology
They are noticeable behind most Federation member worlds except where it comes to the defensive and offensive abilities of their warships. While they spend a lot of time and resources on improveing their military technology most other fields are mostly ignored. As a result some of the technology they use can be very out of date.
Economy
They do not have any trade deals with any Federation member worlds. They do trade with non-member worlds and have an extensive transport system to remove raw materials from those worlds under their control.
Military
Almost 50% of all adult males are in the military with about 75% of those serving on star ships. Every space ship they build including their freighters are classified as warships. These ships range in size from a frigate class up to and including a dreadnaught class.
Federation Intelligence Files
In 2152, the Arkonians made first contact with Humanity through Enterprise. Captain Khata'n Zshaar had been sent to patrol a system the Arkonians had annexed, and sent a shuttle piloted by Zho'Kaan to investigate a human shuttle that had been sent. When both disappeared, the Arkonians and Enterprise had to work together to find their lost crewmen. For more information see Federation Intelligence File Ent-2152-0743
It is important to remember that if you are going to have any dealings with the Arkonians to not bring along any Vulcans. The Arkonians will not allow them to enter their space and they will refuse to have any dealings with anyone who works with a Vulcan.
