When the Federation started to explore the Ithassa Region of space they encountered Tzenkethi. At the time it was believed to be an extension of the Tzenkethi Coalition. However after the Federation had problems with Tzenkethi raiders that were attacking ships on the trade route from DS17 to Wheeler Colony they contacted the Coalition government.
The Coalition government denied any knowledge or involvement with these actions. They blamed the Federation of trying to provoke another war with them. It was only after certain files and documents that contained proof in the form of pictures and scans that the Coalition government agreed to send a representative to mediate a solution to this problem.
The Federation transported the representative to the edge of the Tzenkethi area of Ithassa space. They were immediately fired upon. It was made clear that they refused to have any contact with anyone from the Coalition.
Further investigation by Starfleet Intelligence operatives discovered that the colony of Tzenkethi in the Ithassa Region of space had been there for over 350 years. Based on the limited data available they believe that as a result of some kind of social upheaval, maybe a civil war, a large group of Tzenkethi migrated away from their homeworld and settled as far as they could away from it.
Due to the limited contact with this colony, they seem to be xenophobic, not much else is known at this time.
