Nova Hibernia is a world in the Beta Quadrant, part of a string of Earth Colonies near the (former) Romulan neutral zone.
Nova Hibernia was settled by a collection of colonists from Polish and Irish communities in the 2200's.
Nova Hibernia was chosen partially because it needed no terraforming and the island-dominated oceans were reminiscent of those in the North Atlantic on Earth. A few native Earth species were imported (besides humans) such as horses and cows, while the native fish/amphibian creatures were domesticated.
Most animals native to Nova Hibernia have six appendages.
