Backstory/Timeline
Esme grew up without a mother. Katherine Drake had been killed in a colony epidemic while on an archeology expedition. Her father is a college professor, having his Doctorate in Anthropology. She grew up on Earth, occasionally occumpaning her father on expeditions in the summer. She found early on that she enjoyed the sciences, especially exobiology. She attended college and recieved her PHD in Science then joined Starfleet.
During her college years she met and married Peter McGregor and they had a beautiful baby boy who died before seeing 6 months of age. Esme was devistated and her depression caused a rift between her husband and herself. They divorced soon after.
