History
Their history is one of war. So much so that it became an intricate part of their lives and culture. It was only when they learned that their was other intelligent life forms in the galaxy that they came together and managed to form a lasting peace. This peace has now lasted over 100 years.
The incident that resulted in this radical change for them was the crash of an alien cruiser. It crashed leaveing behind it a streak of flames in the night sky that could be seen for miles. Then upon impact with the ground the sound and shockwaves awoke any who had still been asleep within a 25 miles radius.
The first group to reach the crash site was a hunting party. They were attacked by a few survivors. However the Arcadians were able to rally and fought back. The end result was the death of every single survivor on the alien ship.
Government
The first and original form of government which is still in use involves each clan being lead by a tribunal of 3 elders. This position is for life and the elders can be both male or female. Typically it is made up of 2 males and 1 female.
Since the creation of the Lasting Peace they have a new government which represents all their people. Each clan is allowed to send 1 individual to serve on a planetary council which debates and votes on all issues that affect the people and their world. This is also a lifetime position.
Description
The Arcadian species are humanoids with dark indigo skin and stand on average 6' to 6'6". They are a warrior people and tend to be extremely athletic. The females are more slightly built than the men but are still in excellent physical condition.
The only hair that they have is eyebrows and a single mohawk like strip of hair that starts high on their forehead and runs back over the top of their heads and ends below their shoulder blades. Their hair is a dark shade of blue and the mohawk is only an inch wide but stands up to 1 foot from the top of their heads.
They wear knee high leather boots and sturdy pants usually dark in color. The men wear a pair of crisscrossing dark leather belts that go from shoulder to hip and serve them as a weapons harness. The females wear the same but with a wide strip of cloth that circles their chest to both support and protect their chests.
Physiology
They tend to be fairly athletic as a species and overweight Arcadians are unheard of. They have most of the same kinds of medical problems as most other humanoid species. They also tend to be stronger than they look. On average they have twice the strength of a athletic human of the same size.
Psychology
They are a stoic people but one that enjoys life. Around strangers they will maintain a cool, unemotional front. Otherwise they tend to smile and laugh the same as most other races. They seem to be fairly well adjusted with few know cases of mental problems.
They can be prone to violent berzerker rages, fortunately these are not that common any more. While in the grips of one of these rages they will completely ignor any and all injuries.
Religion
They worship a trinity of gods. Arca is a male god of hunting, the weather and nature. His wife, Dian is the female goddess of fertility, prosperity and survival. The last one is Cadi who is Dian's brother and the male god of war, craftwork and learning.
Mythology
They have a large and colorful set of legends and myths. Most have to do with individuals who excelled at one task or another. In fact there are just as many good stories regarding aspects of all 3 gods as there are stories about heroic battles.

The Ardanans were humanoid natives of the planet Ardana. They were members of the Federation. Ardanans were very famous for their anti-gravitational city, named Stratos, which floated in the sky. They are also known for their export of zenite. (TOS: "The Cloud Minders")
By the mid 22nd century, Ardanans had developed shuttle technology and had dealings with Retellians. Their power relays weren't designed to carry more than an average current. (ENT: "Precious Cargo")
As of 2269, their society had evolved two castes, the Stratos city-dwellers who devoted themselves purely to art and culture, and the surface-based Troglytes.
City-dwellers ruled the planet from Stratos trough a council existing solely of their class, justifying the total suppression of the Troglytes based on the widely held belief that as an inferior species the Troglytes were incapable of advanced culture like there existed on Stratos. As of 2269, Plasus held the position of high advisor of the council
Troglytes on the other hand were considered to be mentally inferior, and therefore performed all the physical toil necessary to maintain Stratos, most notably mining Zenite. Unknown to both city-dwellers and Troglytes however, this mental disadvantage, while real, was only the result of exposure to a gas emanating from unrefined zenite, and furthermore, fully reversible.
Troglytes felt suppressed and wanted access to Stratos, and at some point a resistance group known as the Disrupters was formed, mainly under the impulse of Troglytes that had been away from exposure to the gas due to duties in Stratos. They tried to put pressure on the city-dwellers by withholding zenite and capturing hostages. When the USS Enterprise visited Ardana in 2269, they had been active for several months. Due to intervening by the crew of the Enterprise, this situation was exposed to Starfleet, and apart from a direct suggestion to start using breathing masks in mining so that the Troglytes could recover their full mental capacities, the people of Ardana were referred to the Federation Bureau of Industrialization to resolve their differences. (TOS: "The Cloud Minders")

Ariolo are a humanoid species and members of the United Federation of Planets.
Ariolo have a tough, almost leathery skin that is usually a dark grey or brown in color. They have angular heads that slope upwards from a low forehead to the rear of the cranium. The jaw is angled down so that the mouth, which reverses the angular pattern to slope upward away from the line of the jaw and forehead, protrudes slightly away from the face.
In 2285, the Ariolo were represented by two ambassadors to the Federation Council. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)
The name of this species comes from FASA's Star Trek IV Sourcebook Update. While strictly a non-canon source, it is the only widely-recognized source for names of the Star Trek IV aliens. Also according to that book, the Ariolo originate from a planet called Fillandia and have centaur-like torsos.
