Personal Background

From birth, Jesra was raised at a backwater outpost in the Beta Quadrant. Her mother was a scientist and as a little girl, she would study her mother’s non-classified work, inspiring a love for science. Her mother was drafted to work with Federation scientists on a top-secret project, but their ship was attacked and her mother killed. She was found by another Federation ship floating in a lifepod and returned to the care of her father on their homeworld. However, when she came of age, she traveled to Earth and took a job as a waitress at an establishment near the San Francisco Academy grounds. Night after night, she would listen to the cadet’s stories and she became enthralled by the kind of life she could have with Starfleet. Her father wasn’t pleased that she was choosing to affiliate herself with the organization that had been indirectly responsible for her mother’s death. However, the more she learned about Starfleet’s mission, the more she became convinced it was the best way to honor her mother’s memory and help save lives. Despite her science background, she pursued a major in Security and a minor in Science.
