Backstory/Timeline

Sedona was born in Ulkhar, the capital city of Denobula. Her parents, residing in one of the city's more affluent suburbs, had little time to care for her. Consequently, she was raised by a nursemaid hired by her parents. Although she enjoyed all the material comforts a child could desire, she wouldn't describe her childhood as happy due to the absence of her parents.

As a result, Sedona found solace in the company of her step-siblings and quickly became the ringleader of their mischief. Her outspoken nature frequently landed her in trouble with her mother, but it also proved useful in extricating herself from such situations. This behavior became a consistent pattern throughout her youth, not only with her mother but also with her teachers.

While there was little connection to her mother, Sedona always blamed her for not being there for her but spending time with friends while Sedona was raised by the nursemaid. Her father, on the other side, was somebody the young Denobulan admired for providing for the family. She always wanted to spend time with him, and so he took her to work at his trading business from time to time.

At the age of 19, when Sedona graduated from school, her father tragically succumbed to a severe illness. Given her specialization in commerce, following in her father's footsteps, she assumed control of his business. After she did so, she discovered - for the first time in his life - that her father was in business with a lot of shady people. A few months into taking over the business, the criminal contacts quickly grew over her head and she decided to make a sharp cut in her life. She wanted to make the world a better place, not a worse one by supplying criminals with weapons and supplies.

After having a talk with her mother - the first one after years - Sedona decided to move away from Denobula. Starfleet was a choice of career that more and more Denobulans chose and it promised working towards a bigger goal and for a better world. She applied to Starfleet Academy in late 2395 and was accepted in the subsequent year.
