Backstory
Cassanoveu was always a recluse, and only trusted few into his friendship. Never one to commit to anything, he never went out for any sports, nor extra curricular activities. He had only a small group of three friends whom he followed faithfully, and when they went to medical school after high school, he chose to follow. He has always been laid back, and seldom took charge unless an absolute neccessity. He was smart, but never fully applied himself to anything, but somehow managed to get grades just barely good enough to get into med school with his friends.
During medical school he showed great promise as surgeon, but his
inability to apply himself always caused him great trouble, and made many of his teachers unwilling to train him to his potential, and his classmates belittle him due to jealousy. The only consolation was the fact that his high school buddies were with him. His high school senior sweetheart gave up on him due to his lack of resolve and lack of commitment and left their apartment during his third year.
After finishing up medical school, he began practices at a local
hospital, and made many surprising comments to his supervisors that showed his intelligence, but lack of drive, which they misunderstood as arrogance, and thus was always stuck with the worst shifts and least amount of staff, thus overworked. He thought many times about quiting, but his reunions with his buddies, and their encouragement drove him on to see things through.
He met a pretty young lady during one of those late night shifts,
after she came in from a car wreck and in need of major surgery as well as plastic surgery, and befriended her. After a few months of keeping contact with her to check in on her, and her progress, he began realizing how fond he had become of her, and involuntarily began alienating her, his subcinscious defense mechanism against rejection and abandonment, since she was finally preparing to leave.
After completing his practices, he was offered a position as a
resident staff, but due to his mistaken "arrogance" was offered the lowest post with the lowest pay, causing him to walk away from the opportunity. He wandered around aimlessly for two or three months before bumping into a young lady he had been smitten with in high school. They began seeeing each other briefly until she told him about her plans to join the Star Fleet Academy. Never one to let true love escape his grasp, he bagan attending seminars with her to join up as well. Not one to completely think things through, he had mistakenly assumed that they would be placed together.
(Present) Realizing the world he had gotten involved in, he knew he
would be in serious trouble if he just walked away, thus resigning himself to serve his time and attempt to make the best of things. He figured he may as well put that nice shiny million dollar investment of a degree into good use, and signed up as a Medical Officer, and now after finishing the basic training portion, and being in the best shape of his life, involuntaarily of course, he is kind of looking forward to what the next adventure will bring.
