'Born on Rekar III to Kastov and Uneera, Kasten is the elder of two children. His younger sister M'lva still resides on Rekar III with their mother in the province of Utera. During his upbringing Kasten spent much of his time exploring the outer reaches of the province and the surrounding territory. Both his parents served as naturalist and biologist for the local scientific community and Kasten has followed in their footsteps developing a deep love for all things outdoors. As someone who loves the outdoors and having parents in the scientific fields Kasten has developed a broad range of interests in his studies and loves taking on new things.

Kasten has a very strong confident personality and his morals are deeply rooted in beliefs his parents instilled at a young age making him a virtuous individual as well. He holds his morals and sense of right and wrong in high regard.

	Starfleet Career

Radek graduated Starfleet Academy 239904 and was immediately assigned to the Intrepid Class USS Caboto as part of the Security department.

In late 2399 the USS Caboto was attacked and captured in the Gamma Quadrant by Zet forces. Taken prisoner Radek was placed in a prison camp where Zet tried to extract information for monetary gains. In 2401 Radek was transferred to the Itech'man Facility somewhere in Zet space and encounters another Starfleet officer, Lieutenant Jack Kessler from the USS 'Oumuamua who had been captured as well. The two worked together to escape the Zet and were rescued by a team from the USS Octavia E. Butler and returned to Starfleet for debriefing and reassignment.

Radek, wanting to remain in the Gamma Quadrant and help search for the Caboto and crew chose to remain aboard the USS Octavia E. Butler as a Security officer.
