Born to a nondescript Octran family, Irida and her twin sister grew up competing against either other, except when there was an opportunity to compete together against anyone else.  Growing up the pair were a fearsome in school competitions, they found their individuality in later school years with Hallis going into the Octran security service, and Irida joining Starfleet.
