In case you've not used a wiki before, I thought I'd tell you a few of the basic codes...
==Heading== will give you a heading, adding more equals signs to each gives different levels of heading (so ===Sub-heading=== is a level below, if that makes sense.)
[[USS Independence]] makes a link to a page on this wiki (in this case, USS Independence), whilst [http://independence.starbase118.net Independence Website] creates a link to an external web page. The text after the gap is the text that appears on the page (so the text above gives Independence Website).
Like the external link above, you can also put a link to a page on this wiki behind different text, like here. To do that, type [[USS Independence|visible text here]] such that the text before | is the page you want to link to. If you wish to link to Wikipedia, you can add wp: before the page name, or ma: if you want to link to Memory Alpha (like wp:Main Page or ma:Main Page).
To put text in bold, like this, then you need to surround the bolded text with 3 apostrophes on each side, like '''this is surrounded'''. To make text italic, it's 2 apostophe's instead of 3.
I think that's the basics, if there's anything you need, feel free to ask. Hope that's of help. If you want to practice using the code, there's always the sandbox by the way :) - Lt.JG SalakTalk 12:03, 30 November 2006 (CST)
