« PERSONAL HISTORY »
Adara Bentley was born to Reyna Bentley and Vostro Dakora in 2367 at New Vegas, Luna. Her mother, Reyna Bentley is a medical doctor in the City of New Vegas and her Father is a Federation Ambassador on Starbase 118. Her parents were together for several years but were never married and are no longer together. In her early years, Adara displayed a natural interest in her environment and the world around her and often had trouble connecting with her fellow classmates. She maintained excellent grades throughout grade school but had trouble making and keeping friends. She claims that she was inspired by her father to join Starfleet, he once told her "Dare, you're very intelligent and terrible with people. You already meet half the pre-requisites to become a Starfleet Scientist." Taking her father's humorous advice, she entered Starfleet Academy where she managed to maintain her excellent study habits and, surrounded by like-minded individuals, develop a few meaningful friendships. In 238905 she graduated with a Science degree in Nanotechnology.

Adara might be considered quirky, but it is entirely unintentional. On duty, she has a specific way of doing things that focuses on efficiency before diplomacy. This often causes others to view her as cold or disconnected. When off duty her somewhat limited social skills can sometimes lead to awkward situations, but she is generally likable enough. She enjoys the company of others but can be quite happy on her own, reading the latest scientific journals. Romantically, she has had a couple of relationships, only one that she would consider important, and a few flings. In her experience, intra-ship romances caused too many complications when they inevitably imploded. She now avoids them when possible.
She is very close with her family. Her two younger brothers, Hanek and Troyan live with their respective parents and she often sends them subspace messages and souvenirs from the worlds she visits with Starfleet.

In 2391 Bentley was assigned to the USS Atlantis NCC-74682 after it's reactivation as a science officer.
She arrived just in time to take part in a diplomatic mission to escort a Grenushi ambassador around the treacherous Jenatris Cloud to Uzoka 4. The situation proved to be even more complex when it was revealed that the "gifts" that the ambassador bore were actually living creatures that seemed to be composed of the very cloud itself. Things came to a head when a militant activist group attacked the Atlantis in order to try and free the captured Jenatris animals. Being a relatively weak empath, she only received minor headaches from the effects of the cloud creatures, while other more powerful telepaths were injured far more severely.
