A non-canon item is one which is not considered to be recognized by Paramount as part of the actual Star Trek franchise. Non-canon items may have been seen in a Star Trek novel, or perhaps were created by fans. Sometimes, items which were created by fans are called "fanon."
Usage in UFOP: SB118
Not all non-canon elements are usable in SIMs in this group. Any species which are non-canon must be approved by the Captains Council before they can be used by playing characters, for example.
