- "What point the madness when the children must suffer."
- The Verillian are a species who have survived a truly devastating civil war, one that came close to causing permanent damage to their world and its environment. Now they strive to work together, to fix their problems and discuss the issues so that they will never need to fight another civil war.

History
Their history has been chaotic, with frequent wars, periods of civil unrest and rebellion. By the end of the 21nd century there were only three main factions left and an uneasy peace was established between them. This peace lasted for just over 100 years.
Then in 2307 a series of violent terrorist acts escalated into a full scale civil war. One that was brutally fought, no quarter given and which left behind a truly staggering number of orphaned children. It was the incredible loss of life, both in soldiers and civilians that eventually resulted in a cease fire and a shaky truce in 2368. By 2369 negotiations were finalized and all conflict was over. Peace had been achieved.
Shortly after this in 2373 the new government met with and managed to negotiate a trade deal with the Metron Consortium that resulted in them trading raw supplies for food, farm equipment, new seed crops and medical supplies. This enabled them to assist a large number of their population, mostly children who were starving and suffering.
They have finally reached the point where rebuilding is no longer their main concern and as a result the type of goods they now trade for has changed to include luxury goods and exotic foods, ales and wine. There are still remote locations that still need assistance but for the most part they are now almost self-sufficient when it comes to the basic needs of life.
Government
They have a co-operative central government with representatives from all 3 factions serving in different positions for 3 years before switching to a new position within that government. Each faction has a faction leader and these 3 individuals have overall control and vote on important issues.
Description
Physiology
As with most intelligent humanoid species they have a very complex system with specialized organs, and unique hormones, chemicals and enzymes. They are typical humanoids with most of the physical, mental and biological medical problems that seem to plague most humanoids.
Psychology
They seem to suffer from many of the common mental illnesses associated with intelligent lifeforms like phobias, stress, post traumatic and catatonia. Unfortunately due to their civil war they have not been able to replace any of the damaged or destroyed facilities that use to deal with these medical issues.
Religion
During the worst periods of fighting the population was more concerned with survival and less with salvation. As a result many temples were abandoned, left to be destroyed. Now they are being rebuilt and the people are slowly returning to their initial beliefs.
Mythology
Vast amounts of historical data, early written works and other irreplaceable files, stories and legends were destroyed during the civil war. It is doubtful if any of it will ever be replaced.
Society
Now that most of their war torn cities and communities have been rebuilt the population has started to adjust to life without war. Crime and the blackmarket is still a big problem but civil defense forces tend to keep a lid on it.
Culture
Due to the wide spread destruction well over 85% of all their various different visual and material forms of artist expression were destroyed, most it irreplaceable or beyond repair. The only thing to survive fairly undamaged was their music.
Customs
Some customs were lost due to the savageness of their civil war. Most were kept alive by the children who survived. As a result things have slowly returned to a semblance of normalcy as they rebuilt their war torn cities and communities.
Technology
They have ships capable of warp 6 but do not have transporter or replicator technology.
Economy
They have a small fleet of freighters but the only real long term trade deal they have is with the Metron Consortium. This deal monopolizes a majority of their freighters transporting raw material off world and luxury goods back.
Military
While they have a very large planetary defense force equipped with aircraft, ships and land vehicles of all kinds this force is mostly used to maintain the peace, assist in any natural disasters and crushing any potential civil uprising.
Their space fleet is made up of less than 50 ships with about a dozen of those being cruisers and the rest being destroyers.
Federation Intelligence Files
The Verillians were a group who signed an agreement with the Metron Consortium in 2373. Hagath had also been interested in the deal, but his associate Farrakk was to have conducted the negotiations with them, although he travelled to Risa instead.
Elias Vaughn once visited the settlement of Pentabo on the Verillian homeworld where he saw several orphaned and starving Verillian children.
Verillian pit viper
A Verillian pit viper is a beautiful but deadly reptile, a viper-like animal lifeform native to Verillia.
Pentabo
Pentabo is a settlement on Verillia that was badly damaged during the Verillian civil war.
