History
The M'klexa had not much interest in space exploration and only made a few first contacts before they lost interest in expanding. Discovering warp in 2130, the M'klexa made contact with the Menk in 2153 and later the Vulcans in 2156.
This race continued to explore for a few years more until middle part of the Earth-Romulan war when a Romulan raiding party struck at their homeworld. Though they were able to repel the attackers, it was enough to make the M'klexa decide not to leave their homeworld anymore.
From that point, they have remained in their star system and tolerate visitors.
Government
The government is believed to be a republic though the M'klexa are not interested in sharing their political beliefs with outsiders.

The M'klexa are a humanoid race with bulbous heads, four eyes and are five times the size of a human. They also have four upper limbs
