==Biography==
Didrik Stennes was born in Tromsø, Norway, in 2360. As a child, he dreamt of exploring space, but the devastation of the Shint War led him to enlist in the Commonwealth Fleet at age 15. After a quarter century spent watching society crumble around him, he has begun to ask, “What is there left to fight for?”

Didrik worked his way up the ranks, earning a reputation as a good luck charm due to the number of close scrapes he and his crew survived. He continues to fight because he fears what life will be like if the Commonwealth is lost for good. As he has grown older, he has taken increasingly greater risks to thwart the enemy, and he justifies his desperate actions with the phrase, “it couldn’t be helped.”

Didrik does his best to inspire the people he serves with, and maintains a calm, cool, patriotic façade for the sake of others. When he is alone at night, however, he wishes for the war to end, one way or another. The duality of wanting an end to the suffering and fearing a new way of life keeps him up most nights. It’s taking a toll on him, physically and mentally.

Didrik’s family were evacuated from Earth and now live on a Shint-occupied world, where his father writes Shint propaganda. Didrik doesn’t hold a grudge against his family for being Shint Quislings because, as he always says, “it couldn’t be helped."
