'''Nikael Kalre''' is a {{age|2344|12|24}}-year-old [[Betazoid]] and leader of the [[Maquis Reborn]]. A veteran of the Dominion War, he attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer while serving in Starfleet as a microbiologist. Among his acquaintances was [[Valen Carys]].

After the war, he left the service in 2375 and returned with his wife, a Terran woman, to his hometown of [[Ohmallera]], where he helped with the rebuilding efforts on his homeworld, which had been occupied by Dominion forces.

Kalre was away when the hijacked {{USS|Constitution|B}} destroyed Ohmallera in 2388 on stardate 238802.22. His wife Aurora, 3-year-old daughter Annella, and 6-month-old son Rennan, however, were killed during the attack along with most of the city's 1.2 million inhabitants.
