Tai was born to parents Olsam, Mara, and Emix Greyes on Stardate 236203.10 and grew up on Bactria. At the age of 10, his father was killed while treating a contagious disease off-world, leaving his grieving mother to care for him and his younger sister, Prielle. Friends encouraged his mother to remarry, but she had no interest in Bactrican men.
 
After completing his initial education, Tai pursued a career in counseling, in part to better understand the grieving process to help his mother. His studies led him to become part of an exchange program where he met James Connolly, a respected physician. Despite the age gap, the two became close friends and he invited James to his home to meet his family.
 
Much to Tai’s surprise, James and his mother flirted and soon began courting. A year later, they were married in a ceremony on Earth and his mother moved there to be with her new husband.
 
Fascinated by Earth’s culture and history, Tai elected to leave Bactria and continue his studies on Earth. After attending undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of Hong Kong on Earth, he decided to pursue a career in Starfleet as a counselor specializing in grief and loss.
 
After graduating, Tai was posted as a counselor to the USS Blackwell, a ship assigned to the Andaris Task Force, and was later switched to Diplomatic Officer. After the Task Force was disbanded, Tai was transferred to the USS Braveheart where he was assigned as a Mission Specialist and rose through the ranks to Lieutenant Commander. After a short time serving as Mission Specialist aboard the USS Resolution and a disastrous failed relationship with a colleague, he requested a transfer to the ''USS Brixham'', where he served as a Counselor. Tai is likable and calm on the outside, especially when helping others. He cares so much more for helping others that he sometimes loses sight of himself. This could cause problems in his personal life. The most likely scenario is that he will be so caught up in trying to help others that he will become stressed out when it comes to his everyday life.
