A native Centauran still fresh from the Academy, Niev Galanis was born and raised on a Velestian island small enough to walk a lap around before the sun set. Raised by their birth parents - a salty sailor and a passionately artistic holo programmer - Niev's formative years were split between the seas and high-end holosuites of their home world. Amidst that occasionally literal maelstrom of travel, Niev turned a childhood fascination with their island and the forces of nature around it into a passion for planetary sciences that would lead them into Starfleet Academy. While enrolled they established a reputation for dedication and excelled in their chosen track of Science, but their aloof and occasionally frank nature made socializing with a cohort for the first time an ongoing learning experience.
