Avar hails from Rigel II, perhaps the most cosmopolitan planet of the most cosmopolitan system in the Federation. Her parents are employed by an independent shipping company as crew on one of their freighters, ''Huwald'', named for an Orion poet. She often accompanied her parents on these trips. Sometimes they ran in-system trips to the other Rigelian planets, other times they ran long-haul flights, most frequently to New Xindus in the Delphic Expanse. These space voyages were the best parts of her childhood, and she wanted to continue in that field. | |||
Avar eventually obtained a position of her own within the company, tracking vessel approaches at the main port. She worked there for three years until a corporate restructuring caused her position to be eliminated. As the Federation Starfleet is omnipresent in the field of space travel, she decided to apply there and was accepted.
