John was always wondering what he could do from a Command point of view, and he found out during a mission escorting the [[ USS Kitty Hawk ]] on board the [[USS Independence B]]. The ship was caught in a subspace sinkhole and pulled in, badly damaging the ship and cutting off all access to the rest of the ship. John was in command on the bridge, and he worked to restore control to the rest of the ship. Those and subsequent actions earned John the Legion Of Merit and the Good Conduct Ribbon. | |||
