On Stardate 239209.04 Vurdal left his homeworld of Benzar and started at Starfleet Academy. He hadn’t decided which major he wanted to pursue so he decided to just do his core classes. After the first year, he declared his major, Security Operations. He had put a lot of thought into it and didn't want what happened to Benzar when he was an infant. Towards the end of his third year, Vurdal had taken a piloting elective. This had really intrigued him. So much so that he almost dropped his Security major altogether.
