Karen Strong was born Karen Daisu. Her biological parents, both Betazoid, were Eibrem and Kerrah Daisu. They were killed on an away mission when Karen was five months old and she was adopted and raised by her Godparents, Daniel and Emma Strong, both human. She grew up on a ship for most of her life, but occasionally spent summers on Betazed with her paternal grandparents. Her grandmother taught her how to control her Betazoid abilities when she could. | |||
Karen has trouble making friends because even with her Betazoid calming techniques, and limited training from a Vulcan friend, the emotions of others can still overwhelm her, so she keeps to herself at times. She asked to skip High School and go straight to Starfleet Academy, but her parents insisted that she attend High School first. She graduated in the top ten in her High School class. She achieved her medical degree at Starfleet Academy, as well as a degree in history. She did her medical thesis on temporal psychosis. | |||
