==Personal History== | |||
James Fox was born in London, England to an English father and French mother. His father, Paul, was the curator of a prestigious aviation museum based in the English countryside. His mother, Nicole, was a talented professional pianist.
His father's passions became his own; from a very young age, James was obsessed with flight. He had scores of model aeroplanes, fastidiously assembled, hanging from his bedroom ceiling. At the age of ten he piloted his first aircraft, an old 20th Century Spitfire, under the direct supervision of his father. Four years later, he helmed a shuttlecraft for the first time. He provided transport between Earth and a variety of orbital stations at the behest of his father.
With his mother's death at the age of 16, James moved to San Francisco to live with his Uncle Richard and his family. Richard was his father's brother and a retired Starfleet Officer. It was while under his wing he first seriously contemplated a career with Starfleet.
Fox struggled to adjust to life in America. He continued to excel in school but his social life was almost non-existent. He became close friends with his cousin Sarah and befriended her social circle as a result. It was Sarah who finally convinced James to apply for Starfleet.
Aged 18, James applied for Starfleet and was accepted to study at the Academy.
