((Sickbay, USS Resolution))

::Time and space had little meaning to her now. The fear that gripped her was gone, and the burning suffocation had faded as well. Kali tried to relax, remain in control, and try to figure out how to escape the nightmarish jail she now found herself in. The perceived world around her was still pitch black, and she worried that things were going to get worse before they got better. Her mind reeled again, as she struggled with the lack of normality, and the fact that she had no idea how to get back home.::

::She could see nothing, yet, on the wind voices fluttered here and there, coming and going, swirling around her. She had to strain to hear them.::

Hawk: Don't stop now, push the edge of the envelope...

::The voice trailed off, and Kali struggled to find out where it was coming from. Still, she could see nothing, but the voice of her grandfather was soothing, even if it was a bit harsh. Somewhere in the background, she thought she heard the sound of afterburners.::

Mikhail: You are never alone...

::Sorrow welled up inside of her at the distant sound of her brother's voice. He was so far away, and her grandfather was gone, how could they reach her now? Somewhere, in the back of her mind she recalled him telling her this at her grandfather's funeral. She had been very close to her grandfather, and with his death came a fear that she had never known, the fear of being utterly alone.::

Kora: good friends...Deron and Kalianna Nicholotti...

::Her breath caught in her chest...that was not a voice she expected to hear, and she tried desperately to find its source. The Resolution was her first assignment, and the first place where she was alone and cut off from everything she had ever known. Yes, she was a warrior, but she was not immune to loneliness and other emotions. She would give anything to go back; to build on the sparks of friendship that she felt between her and the science officer.::

oO Makal...Oo

Jaxx: How irresponsible....can you people be....

::The harsh words of the first officer drug her away from the peaceful feelings she found in the other voices. At the same time, she realized that she had been successful at protecting him from harm. Suddenly, Kali remembered why she was here, and the realization that the voices only came from her past struck home, and did so hard. The empty feeling inside of her grew, and she felt even more helpless.::

Kilk: ...guardians are useless, Jaxx...

::The hulking form of the Hirogen was running at her again, but this time Kali could not move. Something had made her numb, and nothing would respond to the danger rushing towards her. In the darkness, she huddled in fear as the monster continued towards her, unseen light glinting off the horrific blade in his hand that was stretched out, drenched in her own blood, reaching for her.::

Deron: You're going to be alright...keep fighting...

oO How can I fight?! I can't see, I can't move... Oo

::Kali closed her mind to the panic that was trying to take over. Instead, she concentrated on her friends, the only people who she could find solace with now. Somewhere, she knew that the doctor would give everything he had to save her physical body, but what about her mind? She would have to find a way out if she was going to make it back. Now she had a reason to return, and despite the lack of ability, she resigned herself to the fight. As the nightmares clawed at her, trying to pull her away forever, she stood fast, and held on to one last shred of hope.::

oO Eliaan...Makal...Help me... Oo
