Stardate 204201.28 - Ship Operations Log, USS Octavia E. Butler

Ship’s Operations Log, stardate 204201.28, Lieutenant Commander Toxin Arlill reporting. Our department is operating at 140% of it’s normal status operations to accommodate the repair needs of the OEB from our recent intruder to the ship’s core. We’ve also began planning SARs operations for standby deployment and rescue operations planet-side, details to follow.

Operational Status

  1. Ship Operational Status: The OEB remains at yellow alert status as operations and engineering departments work to mitigate issues created when Prince Grend, initially an intruder on board, tampered with ship’s computer core operations to facilitate the sending of a communication from regarding his father. Operations Computer Specialists are working with the Binars in the Computer Lab to determine workaround to externally sourced incursion code currently residing in the central core.
  2. Power Allocation Summary: Nothing to report at this time.
  3. Communications: Affording to the reasons laid out in the ships operational status report, communications remain intermittent as we continue to assess and repair damages.
  4. Helm Operations: The OEB remains in geosynchronous orbit of Kelva IV to support diplomatic operations.
  5. Quartermaster: Nothing to report at this time.
  6. Crew Requests: Nothing to report at this time.

Mission Updates

I’ve ordered the department to strategize a rescue plan for officers captured on Kelva IV by the Zet leadership on the planet. Our captain has been unresponsive to communications requests (ref: Command Logs for further background). SARs operations are being spun up to standby status.

Outstanding Issues & Recommendations

  • Central Computer Core: remains offline, coordinating with engineering and computer lab.
  • Backup EPS Systems: performing within operational parameters to supplement power losses from offline computer control.
  • Helm & Communications: currently set to manual operation mode, requiring additional crew resources.
