Personal History

Lhandon Joseph Nilsen was born and raised on the peaceful farming colony of Gault. He is part of a large family with six siblings. His curiosity about the outside world grew as he observed the comings and goings of starships during supply deliveries. As he got older, he discovered a natural talent for operational matters and keeping things organized on the farm, taking on administrative duties, logistics, and managing supplies. This lead to a love of space and as soon as he was able, he signed up for Star Fleet, he heard of the Rozhenko’s adopted son doing the same thing decades ago but was fuzzy on the details. During his training, he excelled in Operations but faced challenges with academic subjects like PHYS101 and BIO101. However, his exceptional operational skills and ability to keep things running smoothly more then made up for this. Lhandon was taking a major in helm and navigation with a minor in communications and operations

However, Lhandon's dreams took an unexpected turn during his second year at the academy. During a training flight in the Kuiper Belt, as part of "Tactics: Combat, Shuttles and Runabouts" in the Kuiper Belt, his shuttle lost control and collided with another, resulting in a devastating crash into an asteroid. Lhandon escaped with a broken ankle, but the other pilot was left in intensive care for several months. The incident nearly led to Lhandon's expulsion, and rumors spread throughout the academy. In a bid to salvage his career, Lhandon made a difficult decision (read: was forced to) to drop his major in Helm/Navigation and focus solely on Communications/Operations. Though skilled at Ops, Lhandon couldn't shake his deep desire to return to the helm, and he quietly harboured the hope of one day getting to fly again.

Nilsen's first posting out of the academy was to the USS Oumuamua, there he has been working hard in the lower decks to erase the mark left on his record by the incident in the academy.

Interests & Hobbies

Motorsport

Lhandon is a passionate enthusiast of sports cars spanning from the late 20th to the early 21st century. This interest significantly influences the way he perceives and describes starships in flight. For instance, on one occasion, Nilsen compared the USS Centris, a Nova class training vessel, to an MX5 sports car—a type of ship that, according to him, could perform sideways drifts around an asteroid field simply by kicking the nacelles out.

(USS Oumuamua description is a placeholder and pending.)

When he able to get onto the holodeck, Lhandon's favourite program revolves around a professional drift championship. Within this program, there is a particular mode that engages the player in a thrilling one-on-one drifting competition. In this adrenaline-pumping race, speeds soar above 100 mph, and participants maneuver their cars with utmost precision, sometimes coming within inches of each other. If Nilsen forms a strong bond or friendship with someone, he warmly extends an invitation to that person, welcoming them to experience the exhilarating program,

Rugby

Lhandon found a passion for rugby after moving joining Starfleet Academy. His height and build made him well suited for the game. He found himself well suited to a forward positioned as a "Prop," with a preference for as the "Tighthead Prop"

On stardate 239706.25, Nilsen collided with another player and suffered a broken nose.

Medical Record

Medical Record
Date Medical Facility Event Diagnosis Note
239804.15 USS Conway Emergency Treatment Severe physical trauma sustained from shuttlecraft incident Initial Assessment:

Upon arrival via emergency transporter to the USS Conway, Lhandon Nilsen was unconscious and presented with a severe broken ankle as the primary injury. Further examination revealed possible signs of a concussion. Vital signs were stable, but immediate medical intervention was required.

Treatment:

Broken Ankle: A complete fracture of the right ankle was diagnosed. Stabilization and immobilization were performed using a hypospray to administer a bone-regenerating agent. A medical brace was applied to support the affected area.

Concussion: Due to the impact of the crash, signs of a concussion were evident. Nilsen was closely monitored, and cognitive tests were conducted once he regained consciousness.

His ankle fracture is healing with the applied bone-regenerating agent and the use of a medical brace. The concussion will require close monitoring, and he is advised to rest and avoid strenuous activities until fully recovered.

As a survivor of a traumatic event, Lhandon may benefit from counseling or support group sessions to address any emotional or psychological challenges resulting from the shuttle crash

239706.25 San Francesco Medical Facility Emergency Treatment Broken Nose from Rugby Injury Initial Assessment:Initial Assessment:

Upon examination, the patient presented with a broken nose sustained during a rugby match. He reported a direct impact to the nose from a collision with another player.

Medical Findings:

Broken Nose: The physical examination confirmed a displaced fracture of the nasal bone, resulting in significant swelling and tenderness around the nasal region.

Epistaxis: The patient experienced a moderate level of epistaxis (nosebleed) as a result of the injury, which was managed promptly.

Treatment:

Nasal Realignment: The patient's broken nose was carefully realigned under local anesthesia to ensure proper healing and restore normal nasal alignment.

Nasal Packing: To control bleeding and provide support to the nasal structures, dissolvable nasal packing was inserted.

Pain Management: Appropriate pain medication was prescribed to manage discomfort and promote a more comfortable recovery. Cadet refused stating that “he was fine and had much worse on the farm”

Patient comment caused concern, prior medical logs were requested from Gault. Found these logs to be lacking in detail. Suggest further guidance and training for medical professionals on Gault in the logging of patient records.
