Background

Hathur was born and raised on the undeveloped planet Adur VI by his well-known terraformer parents, exiled there from Bajor by the ruling Cardassians in 2368. There, as part of his curriculum, he was indoctrinated with hatred for the Federation by his parents, who resented it for not saving them.

When Starfleet arrived to negotiate a shipment of settlers to the now flourishing planet, after witnessing their kindness towards his stubborn parents, he managed to acccess the orbiting ship's computer to read more about the mission of Starfleet. Amazed but feeling betrayed by his parents and furious, he managed to sneak aboard one of the settler's shuttles. From there, he made it to San Francisco to apply to Starfleet Academy, where he successfully gained entrance on a science major.

Graduating in 2396 with a major in astronomy, he is eager and determined to carve out a new life for himself in Starfleet. With this, he can often be overzealous and intense about his beliefs -- although this was partly tempered after some time in a Vulcan meditation centre.
